" Goodbye guys, be good, " Dad ordered the next morning when he and Delilah were about to leave.
I just nodded and locked the door. Dad and Delilah then rode off in the taxi.
I walked upstairs to wake Dylan up. He has to go to school as early as I am. I don't trust him to be locking the doors.
As per usual, I ready my hands and took a deep breath.
I touched Dylan's hands and pulled it. He fell directly and became conscious.
" Dude, what gives? " He said with an annoyed face.
" Delilah and my dad have left, from now on, you're going to school with me, I don't trust you locking the doors, " I said.
" Go and shower, I'll go down to make breakfast, " I instructed.
I turned around to go to the kitchen.
When I arrived in the kitchen, I took some bacon and eggs to fry them. A simple and delicious breakfast. It only took me 10 minutes to cook breakfast.
After I plated it, I went to my room to check on Dylan. Hopefully he's done showering so I can shower.
But of course, when I arrived in my room, I saw Dylan, on the couch, playing his phone, and still smelling like a dog's drool!
" DYLAN! I literally told you one thing, just one simple thing, to shower! And you can't even do it?! " I yelled. I was beyond amazed by how careless Dylan is.
" Bruh, chill, I only shower for like a minute, no need to freak out or anything, " Dylan said, trying to calm me down.
" Well okay then, I will shower first, but when I'm ready, you have to be ready, or else you're buying me lunch for the week, " I said.
Dylan just nodded lazily.
I walked into the bathroom to take a refreshing shower. The moment the cold water hitted my skin, all my sleepiness washed away, and I was ready for today. I put on my uniform and tied my hair with my scrunchie. I applied a bit of makeup and walked outside, all ready.
" Dylan, shower, now! " I exclaimed when I opened the door. Dylan got up lazily and went to the bathroom.
I sighed and prepared my bag. I stuffed all the things I need for school into my bag. I prepared my socks and headed downstairs.
I sat down on the chair and gasped.
" Hey Karen! " Dylan cheered. He was already sitting in front of me. All ready with his uniform, bag, and regular old denim jacket.
" Yeah, hey, how did you get here so fast? " I asked.
" Ninja skills, " Dylan replied with a grin.
" Okay, let's just pretend that you can do that, anyway, let's eat! " I said. Dylan started digging into the bacon and eggs.
" What do you think? " I asked when we both finished eating. Dylan definitely looked like he liked it, but I really can't tell, it's Dylan we're talking about, he's unpredictable. You never know if suddenly he begins jumping around the room like he's a monkey.
" Yeah, meh, " Dylan replied.
I looked at him in the eyes.
" Oh really? If you said it's meh, why did you lick the oil off the plate? " I asked suspiciously.
" Yea, yea, whatever, " Dylan replied. He took his backpack and we went off to school. I rode my bike, and Dylan rode my dad's.
We arrived at school after 10 minutes of pedalling. The school was still empty. Not a very surprising situation for me, but it was, for Dylan.
" Okay, next time we should go a bit later, this is way too early, " Dylan commented. He walked to the cafeteria, and I walked to the library. That's where I always hang in the mornings.
As usual, the library was empty. Usually there were a few teachers and younger students, but today it was empty. Only the librarian was there.
I walked inside and sat at the corner with my math book. There's a math test today, I have to study the materials one more time. I have about 30 minutes to study. That's more than enough. I started diving into the numbers and weird symbols in the world of math.
That day went amazing for me. I aced the Math test, like always. A 100 for me. Nothing unusual. I ate a baloney sandwich and a piece of apple pie for lunch. At 4 we went home. Usually we would go home at 3, but since Dylan had basketball practice, I waited for him in the library. After practice, Dylan and I met up at the parking lot ready to go home.
" Hey Karen, before going home, let's go to the park! " Dylan asked.
" No, I need to go home, I have to do my homework, " I denied.
" Come on, please " Dylan pleaded. " It will only take 10 minutes, I just wanted to walk around the park ".
" No! " I snapped.
" Please, pretty pretty please! " Dylan pleaded.
He put on his so called puppy eyes. Which by the way, was disgusting.
" Whatever, " I said.
I was tired of him pleading me, plus, a walk in the park wouldn't hurt, right?
We went on our bikes and got ready to go. The park is just a few kilometres away the opposite direction of my house. It's still 4, we can spend 30 minutes in the park, then directly go back home.
Took us 15 minutes of pedalling until we finally arrived in the park. The park was empty. Only a few people here and there.
Dylan and I parked our bikes, took our bags and walked through the gate. I wasn't exactly sure what Dylan wanted to see in the park. Was it the birds? The trees? The fountain? You never know.
Dylan and I just walked through the pathway around the park. We kept our distances, Dylan led the way and I walked behind him.
For a few minutes Dylan just followed the pathway and took every right turn. My curiosity was burning and finally, I asked him.
" Where exactly are we going? "
" Nowhere really, I just wanted some fresh air, " Dylan replied without looking back.
Suddenly, we heard thunder. A loud one.
" Shoot! It's going to rain! We don't have time to get back to our bikes, we have to find shelter! " I instructed. I scolded myself. Why didn't I look at the sky? Checked the forecast? Bring an umbrella? I'm so unprepared today.
" Okay, I know a little shed near here, follow me, we have to move fast! " Dylan said.
He ran off straight. I followed. Good thing I wasn't wearing flat shoes. I was wearing basic sneakers. Easy to run in.
" Here, come on! The storm's going to come! " Dylan yelled.
The wind was already blowing hard. It made the leaves rustle, following the direction of the wind. We had to scream in order to hear each other's voices.
Dylan and I quickly entered the small shed. Just as we went in, the storm came.
