THE THORPE FAMILY traveled quickly on the morning of September 1st, 1991. Eveline was sure to pull her big sister around, unknowingly leaving their grandpa to push both- very- heavy trunks. "Hold on, Munchkin, you'll run right past it." Vanessa laughed quietly, trying not to draw attention. Eveline stops abruptly, almost causing a domino effect with her family behind her.

"Is this it?" Eveline nearly squeals. "Yeah, Eve. Remember what I told you?" Vanessa looks down at her sister, watching her nod back. "Ready?"

The sisters run together in between platforms 9 and 10, disappearing through the wall and around the corner. "Those damn kids are so fast." Clay pants on the other side of the wall, breathing heavily before running at the wall. "Nessa, this is incredible!" Eveline hugs Vanessa around the waist. "I know, kid. Let's wait for Gramps, okay?"

Soon enough, Clay found his granddaughters and they made their way to the middle of the platform after loading their trunks. "Alright, Eve, I know you're excited so I'm going to let you go. Listen to your sister, okay?" Eveline nods quickly, hugging Clay and saying an 'I love you' before running towards the train. "Are you sure you're going to be okay by yourself?" Vanessa looks up at her Granpa, frowning slightly and shifting the weight of her cat carrier between her hands. He hadn't been alone in the house in a long time.

"I'll be fine, Ness. Just make sure to write and come home for breaks, okay?" Clay pulls her towards him, wrapping her in a hug. "Love you, Gramps." Vanessa's words are muffled, but he hears them fine. "Love you too, kid." Clay lets her go, calling out to her, "Take care of your sister." Vanessa shoots a thumbs-up back, stepping onto the train.

I hope one of them found a compartment. It seemed like the last few years the compartments had been swallowed up by first-years who were too scared to sit together. Vanessa never thought she'd be more thankful to see one of her friends until she saw Paige Howe (her best friend of five years) sitting alone in a compartment.

"Who's this weird girl sitting by herself?" At the sound of an American accent, Paige whips her head around. "Nessa!" Paige throws her arms around her best friend. "I missed you so much!"

"I'm sure you aren't having a group hug without me." Theodore Carver wraps his arms around the girls, smiling widely. When the three separate, the girls notice that Theo's hair had grown out since they all saw each other earlier that summer, now it was nearly reaching his shoulders. He still had that wide smile and a toothpick between his teeth, though.
