[A/N] Hey guys!! Author-chan here. This is my first fanfiction so I apologize of it's not the best lol. Feel free to leave constructive criticism and correct me on any errors I make. I would also appreciate it if you guys could let me know if you want shorter chapters (around 300-500 words) with more frequent updates (around twice per week), or longer chapters (around 1500+ words) with less frequent updates (once every 1 or 2 weeks). You guys can also suggest any other update schedules you'd like, as well as work counts for me to work towards, and I'll consider all of them. I will also update more frequently if I'm up to it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this!!

ATTENTION: Haikyuu is not mine, but this fanfic is completely 100% mine.

3rd person POV

Laughing, Hinata and Natsu were playing at the small park that was next to their small apartment. His mother, dad, and sister were all so happy. But that would soon change. Hinata, six years old, punted the ball they were playing with too far, and it landed near his mother. Clumsily, he ran over to retrieve the ball with a sparkle in his eye and a smile in his face. However, when he got to her, she had no face.

Hinata's eyes flew open, only to be met with a pitch black ceiling that was had paint peeling off of it, and was yellowed by time. Erupting in cold sweat from his dream, he sat up in bed.

He'd been having the same dream lately, about his dead mother. No matter how hard he tried, he could never remember her face. Groggily, he rolled around to face the clock on the light blue night stand that was situated adjacent to his twin sized bed.

3:56, it read. Sighing Hinata rolled out of bed and pulled on his shorts that were sitting on his chair.

The shorts were old and holey but he kept them, as they were his only keepsake of his late mother. There were faded spots from where the many previous times he had rubbed the shorts, trying to remember his mother.

Today he doesn't repeat that ritual, as he had to get to volleyball practice, and beat Kageyama-kun! Although Hinata's home life was terrible, he still managed to stay positive due to his wonderful volleyball team and Kageyama.

Hinata's POV

After pulling on my shorts, I rummage through my drawer for a matching pair of socks. Although my room is spotless and clean, the inside of my dressers are a different story. There are unfolded clothes, some dirty and others not, while my undergarments and socks are randomly inside of shirts or shorts that reside in the messy place I used to call a drawer.

I could hear faint snores, slightly muffled by the thin walls, coming from the next room over. I couldn't help but to sigh in relief. That monster was still asleep. Trying not top wake him up, I sneaked quietly down to the kitchen, where I tried getting the pantry open.

You see, the monster abuses me, rapes me, and starves me almost every day. Im order to earn my food, I have to either take one of his beatings, or let him...you know. I usually take the beating,  but when I'll be around others for a long period of time where they're more likely to see my cuts and bruises, such as a sleepover, i choose the second option.

No one can find out. That monster has promised me that if anyone finds out, he'll torture them in front of me until they die or I take their place.

Anyways, I managed to pick the lock with a paperclip I found at school. Looking at the food was making me drool. There was my favourite, chicken Nongshim ramen, just sitting there, waiting to be eaten. I saw apple's and picky the too, but in my eyes I could see only ramen.
