{a/n hi my loves, i know it's been a very long time since I've been on this app. I had a hard time with motivation (still am) but I really want to create stories again and post them just for the fun of it and the enjoyment of you guys. Keep in mind that this is my story and please respect me and my writing. Thank you and enjoy}
That scream, the scream that Lawrence tried so hard to get out of his head. The scream that to this day still everyone talked about. "But where did it come from?" one person asked. "Who did it?" said another. No one knew who screamed but it terrified everyone to the point that everyone is paranoid to even come out of their houses. The people here try to say that it was the man in the cave, which was an old tale told to scare children away from the cave so no one gets hurt or lost in there.
The story began when one day the man who lived there took his wife and his two daughters to the cave and tortured them letting their screams fill the village. Everyone said that the old man killed himself afterward but some say he's still there waiting for someone stupid enough to walk in. Lawrence didn't want to believe that the old man existed nor did he want him to still be alive. His mom was only six when the incident happened. She said that she knew the old man personally and never believed that he would ever harm his family. She believed that the queen hid something there and used the poor family as an excuse because the man died along with his family because of the sickness that was going around at the time.
His mother was the type to always see good in people like he was. She was beautiful even with small strings of grey in her light brown hair and the slight wrinkles that formed on her face. People accused her of being a witch at one point because of how beautiful she was. People in this town believe that anything and everything is real. Elves, fairies, and witches or anything mythological is something everyone thinks is real. Even his mother believed in it, he, on the other hand, believed that it was all just foolish. If magic really existed why hide?
It was Saturday when Queen Elena came to the village. Everyone gathered around her and kneeled until she raised her hand bringing us to our feet again. This was the first anyone has seen her, her face was pale with her golden locks falling perfectly giving it more of a heart shape to it. Her features were hard to make out because he was too far to see. When everyone was up she began to speak.
"People of Swindmore, I know you are scared because of the screams that have been happening, but I want to remind you that this is the yearly anniversary of the poor Ashbourne's deaths." she smiles sadly as a tear fell down her face. "The screams are still heard in my head from when I was a young queen. I truly do believe that he still wanders in the cave" she looks over towards the cave. "Those are only lies you spread to hide our kind." he hears his mother scream. The queen looked at her with coldness in her face. "What is your name?" she says with a voice that sounded kind but no one was fooled by the anger she felt towards his mother. He looks at his mother, her face just as cold as the queen's. "Angeline Rosewood," she says with the same kindness with a rude face. "What do you mean by 'our kind' Ms.Angeline Rosewood," she asked as the villagers became silent now listening to his mother and the queen go back and forth. "I-I mean that you are hiding something from us as your subjects" his mother replies with a slight stutter.
His mother's stutter was something that even he was confused about; he looked around as people started to mumble and talk. "I've always known something was wrong with that woman even when she was young. I wouldn't be surprised if she helped old man Ashborne." he heard the old woman behind him say. He turned around staring into the woman's eyes. "My mother would never," he says as everyone fell silent. He turned back around seeing that the queen's eyes were now on him.
"You are the son of Ms.Rosewood?" she questions stepping down to the crowd. People got out of her way as she walked towards him till they were face to face. Her face was now easier to see which scared him because from afar she looked more beautiful and calm but now it was wrinkled and angry looking. "I-uh yes," he replies, backing away a slight bit. "Do you also believe this foolish story of Mr.Ashborne is innocent?" as she spoke he looked back and forth from his mother to the queen. "I have to be loyal to my queen just as much as I have to be loyal to my family, but I can never choose a queen over my family," he says hoping it was the right thing to say. Her face looked shocked but amused by his answer making him start to fear what was going to happen. She gets closer to the side of his face "I know what you and your mother are. She can try to hide her abilities but yours are radiating off you because you were never tamed." she whispers. She then lifts her head up away from his and faces the crowd again."We have an idea, Mr.Rosewood will be going into the cave to prove the existence or nonexistence of old man Ashborne,as we all know what they are. Wouldn't be to harmful if he dies" she says waving the guards to come over. Next thing Lawrence knew he was being grabbed by both his arms and pulled towards the cave. He tried to pull himself away but the grips on his arms were tight. "I don't understand," he yells, turning his head. His mother was yelling frantically. "Because of Ms.Rosewood's ignorance, her son will suffer her faults and as for Angeline Rosewood." the queen yells over his mother. "Let the witch burn" he hears just before his head gets hit and knocks out.
