Come on, you can do it! Just don’t do too much.
Snowballs formed in both of my hands, Hiccup was walking with Astrid. Gosh, that girl is such a…Barfhole, as most people on Berk like to call disliked people.
I threw the snowballs at both of their backs, causing them to jump in surprise and shudder from the cold. Before they caught sight of me, I hid behind my house, trying to suppress my giggling.
I sighed in content, pulled my fur scarf tighter around my neck, and sauntered into my house, my chin held high, you could definitely say I was proud of myself.
Slaxith, my dragon, was waiting on top of the dragon’s head above the door, as always. Slavic Sapphire dragons are basically magpies. Just with shiny blue scales that can turn yellow and contain a deadly venom at her will, which she releases at her enemy through her tail as liquid, or just by touching her. She is not the biggest dragon in the universe, but slightly smaller than a Night Fury. They love jewels and shiny things. Especially sapphires, in fact, if you want a Slavic Sapphire in the best mood possible, feed them a sapphire. They will unconditionally love you for a few hours and be super obedient. Just deal with their eccentric-ness. But, she isn’t exactly useful, she’s just another dragon, but I can send her jewel-hunting when she doesn’t do anything. Sometimes I join her. Slavic Sapphires are not extremely rare, but are rarer than the topaz dragon, but not as rare compared to emerald. Slaxith is just another ancient language that means precious stone or jewel. So I call her Gem, or Jewel. But, I only call her those nicknames when we fly, or when I issue a command to her, but, when I talk with her, or introduce her to others, she’s Slaxith.
Slaxith slunk next to me and lied down, making it obvious she wanted to be stroked, so I stroked her, then she moved her shiny, scaly head onto my lap, then let out a few low growls of satisfaction, which made the temperature around me slightly rise, so I took off my fur boots and coat.
I must’ve dozed off a couple hours, because Mom came home telling me dinner was ready. I just grunted sleepily in reply.
After some yak stew, I went outside to fly on Slaxith.
“Jewel! Come on, we’re going fishing.”
She immediately came, and I mounted her, and with one beat of her wings, we were into the star-strewn sky. I forgot to mention Jewel Dragons (Slavic Sapphire, Dutch Diamond, etc.) have one of the most powerful wings. Another good quality.
I kicked my feet against her, and she dived, and she flew low over the water, I took the basket, and she took it with her mouth and dipped it in the water. It got my legs soaked, but the basket was almost full of fish, I took it from her, then, with an empty mouth, Slaxith dunk her head into the water, and her mouth was immediately filled with fish.
After a few minutes we came back, I complimented her, another thing they love to hear are compliments, and I took the basket of fish into the house.
I raked my fingers through my hair, then braided it. I put a forehead headband with two feathers dangling on it around my forehead, then I went to bed. But due to my dozing off earlier, I found it rather hard to sleep. Even with Slaxith snoring on the floor. But eventually, I dozed into an uneasy sleep.
The neighbours’ dragon’s morning growls woke me from my uneasy sleep, and I stretched, and I prodded Slaxith, who looked at me in annoyance. I put on my helmet, had breakfast, and Slaxith went off for her own breakfast, and after that, she’d either come back and nudge me to join her jewel hunting.
I went to the blacksmith’s shop, since I was a volunteer worker, and I wasn’t expected all the time, but I mostly came here to make Slaxith’s flying gear.
“Lookie here, we got Princess workin’” greeted Gobber.
“Hi, Gobber.”
“So polite, we’re taking orders today, it’s Sunday.” He shoved me to the counter, and I pulled a wooden lever, a wheel spun, which contained cards with numbers on it. I grabbed a card once the wheel came to a stop.
“Twenty-three!” I yelled to the small crowd of people at the counter.
A young man with a braided beard raised his hand, and stepped forward.
“Alrighty, I want a saddle with a few spikes, a nice, bold seat, a throne-looking one, and a handle, and a medium storage compartment.”
“You got it,” I said, writing it down.
Once I went to the working area, Snotlout leaned against one of the wooden beams that supported the roof, really trying to look cool.
“It’s the Princess, want anything, Sweetheart?”
“No thanks, Prince Barfhole,” I replied cockily, smiling at his displeased reaction.
“That’s why I’m aiming for you, Princess. Feisty as always.”
“I don’t care,” I replied, irritated.
He eventually walked away, and I got to work on the man’s saddle. While I finished setting out materials, Slaxith found me, the young children playing in the snow admiring her shiny blue scales as she passed.
Slaxith settled near me for a while, Hiccup never came while I worked on the saddle. I sighed, but finished before it became evening.
I left the shop, and just walked to the all-you-can-eat dragon feeding stations. I bring Slaxith here when I’m not in the mood to fly. Hiccup was there, and Slaxith regained her bold stature, since she was in front of other dragons. I forgot Jewel dragons can be bold and prideful.
While Slaxith ate, Hiccup and I did small talk, like complimenting the cold weather and all, but at least we managed a conversation.
After I left, Hiccup asked if he could fly with me, and my heart skipped a beat. But he just wanted to know more about Slavic Sapphires, and I wasn’t sure if he wanted to fly because of me. Oh well.
So I stood at the edge of the cliff, waiting for him. He came when the first stars began to appear, and I took him and Toothless on a short jewel hunt, but didn’t find any jewels, but Slaxith took great interest on a dull blade which easily reflected light. Then we had fish and roasted it on top of a tall rock tower. Then we did some tricks, loop de loops, standing while our dragons were flying, etc.
After a while, I went home and immediately fell asleep. Hiccup and the time we shared moments ago never left my mind.
