"i don't really want to..." matt said, rubbing the back of his neck.

you had been begging him to let you do his makeup for the longest time.

"cmonnnn just this one timeeee," you pleaded, grabbing his hand with both of yours. "it'll be fun~"

"what's in it for me?" he countered, narrowing his eyes dramatically.

"i will...." you contemplated for a long time. "i'll buy you dinner! whatever you want!"

matt considered his options. on one hand, he could eat whatever shit he managed to scrape together. OR he could eat whatever he wanted. your treat.

"alright fine. but we're going somewhere fucking expensive," he grumbled as he flopped onto the couch.

you and matt have been really great friends ever since you guys met through some mutual friends. you guys just clicked. you understood each other in a different way and you never ran out of things to talk about.

for months now matt had been harboring some secret feelings towards you. ryan was the only one he confided in about these feelings. but anyone could see that there was something special between them.

at this moment, you were getting your makeup supplies together.

matt really only agreed to this for the free meal, and you knew this. but the reason for matt's hesitation was unknown.

he was nervous.

nervous about you being so close to his face. scrutinizing every little detail about him. he was usually pretty confident in himself, but he fell apart at the thought of you seeing him as unattractive.

"are you ready?" you asked excitedly, snapping matt out of his thoughts.

"sure..."

you sat in front of him on the couch, and he adjusted himself so that he was facing you as well.

you took his glasses off and smiled at him. he desperately hoped that you didn't notice the blush on his face.

you weren't going to put matt through a full face of makeup, so you decided to just do eyeshadow, eyeliner, and lipgloss.

you began looking through the colors you had had at your disposal.

"what colors would you prefer mr. watson?" you questioned, giving him a fake serious face.

"whatever you'd like, i'm just here for the free meal," matt said coolly.

you grinned and chose a pretty pink color. you decided to blend the pink on his eyelid and up a little bit. as you did, you cupped his face so you could work better (mhm yes definitely).

matt's heartbeat sped up, and he didn't know this but, yours did too.

you wanted nothing more than to close the gap between you both. you pushed the feeling down and applied the shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corner and eyelid.

you went on to do matt's eyeliner and also a little bit of lip gloss. the whole time matt was trying to hide how nervous he was. he felt better when he had noticed the small blush on your face. it gave him a spark of hope that maybe you felt as nervous as he did.

during the whole makeup process, you both had unknowingly moved closer and closer to each other. matt's breath hitched as he glanced at your lips. you did the same.

"i'm sorry..." matt trailed off, but neither of you moved away.

"can i..." he started, but before he could finish you pressed your lips to his.

he kissed back, his hands going to your waist as your arms went around his neck. the whole world seemed to stop as you two kissed, and matt thought about how long he had wanted to do this.

you broke apart after what seemed like forever. you broke into a wide smile as he pressed his forehead to yours.

"well, i think you still owe me a dinner," matt said while grinning at you, causing you to giggle.

"i guess so."
