The Christmas party had arrived. Valerie was downstairs before the sun had even risen in the sky. She got herself a cup of coffee and went to sit on the couch to wait for Remus. She didn't have to wait too long before Remus stepped out of the fireplace.
"Hey, good morning," he was smiling as he came over to sit next to her.
"Good morning," she replied, resting her head on his shoulder.
"My parents are coming tonight, but I wanted to come early and spend some time with you," Remus told her, as he leaned in towards her.
"Aww," she said before she kissed him softly. "I missed you," she gave him a hug and rested her head on his chest. He put his arms around her and they just sat there like that for a while. Soon though, Valerie's stomach began to growl.
"Hey, I can make some mean french toast. You want some?" Remus asked her.
"Sure!" The two went into the kitchen, and Valerie helped Remus get all of the ingredients out.
"Okay, now you go sit, I'm making you breakfast."
"But—"
"No, sit!"
"Okay fine!" Valerie sat at one of the kitchen stools and the two talked while Remus made breakfast. After a little while, James and Sirius came downstairs.
"Hey, you're here!" Sirius exclaimed, before sitting down beside Valerie.
"Want help with breakfast?" James offered.
"No, I got it. It's almost done, anyway," Remus said before he put the last of the french toast on the stack, and gave everyone a plate full of food.
They were all eating when Euphemia and Fleamont came into the kitchen.
"Remus, dear, you're here! And what a lovely looking breakfast! Did you make this?" Euphemia asked him.
"Yeah, I did. Please, have some," Remus replied with a smile.

After breakfast, the Marauders went up to Valerie's sunroom to talk for a while. They began to talk about what they all wanted to do after Hogwarts.
"I don't know. I want to do something with helping people. I was thinking maybe a healer or researcher at St. Mungo's, or maybe an Alchemist," Valerie mused.
"But Val, you have the top marks. You could easily go on to be an Auror, you know," Sirius told her.
"I know that, but being an Auror can be dangerous and I want to be able to have a family eventually, and I don't want them worrying about me every day that I go to work."
"Okay, that's fair, I never thought about that." Sirius nodded. "How about you?" he asked, turning to Remus.
"I don't know either. Probably something at the Ministry. Maybe Magical Law Enforcement or even something with creatures wouldn't be bad." he responded.
"I think I want to do Magical Law Enforcement, too," Sirius told them.
"I want to play quidditch professionally," James announced and Valerie laughed.
"I could have guessed," she said with a chuckle. "You'll do amazing, I know you will."

Late that afternoon the boys had gone downstairs to help before getting ready. Valerie began to get ready a little earlier as she had her hair and makeup to do and her dress to put on. She began by taking a wonderful bubble bath. She used vanilla and gingerbread scents in the water and it smelled heavenly. After a soak, she got out and put on her fluffy bathrobe. After patting her hair with a towel, she threw it into a damp bun while she did her makeup. She began with a nice gradient eyeshadow look. She stuck to more neutral colors, and then added beautiful eyeliner wings. She charmed her eyelashes to make them longer and darker and added a red lipstick.
