(a/n: SORRY FOR THE LACK OF UPDATES I GOT LOCKED OUT OF THE EMAIL THAT HAD MY GOOGLE DOCS ON THEM AND IT KEPT DENYING MY PASSWORD CHANGE REQUESTS BUT I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!)
"So, you're saying that I can't be near you during school?"
"No, I'm not saying that, you'll just have to - basically - keep your distance."
"But I want to act the same way with you at school as we do at home!"
Today is Sunday, which means that Rin is going to start attending school tomorrow. Dad gave me the duty of teaching her public etiquette, but I don't think that the rules are correctly settling with her.
Rin gives me a pout that pulls at my heartstrings, "Do you not want people to know we're dating?"
"It's not that, just-" I stop mid-sentence to take a second look at Rin's face. It dawns upon me that she's not joking around; she truly thinks that I'm worried about making our relationship public.
"Gumi, I've been thinking about something." Her tone of voice takes a melancholic turn, "If you ever get tired of me, can't you easily just turn off my system?"
Those words take a moment to settle in for me. She isn't wrong whatsoever, but I'm worried to see where she's going with this.
"Everyone would just think you're weird for loving a robot... let alone one that you made yourself. There are plenty of other people for you at school, right...?"
"Hey, don't think like that."
Even though I'm trying to give her hopeful words, the light in her eyes seems to flicker. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be saying these things. I'll follow the school rules" As her sentence stops, I start to realize what's truly bothering her.
"Rin... you're worried about Miku, aren't you?"
She nearly jumps out of bed when I say that. She fumbles to come up with words, "N-No, why would I be?"
"Come on, there are plenty of reasons. You know how much she meant to me, and that alone could be enough to make you upset."
Without words, she scoots closer to me and leans her head on my shoulder.
"Just think about things logically; you know how much I love you. I wouldn't be so happy to see you everyday if I were still holding onto Miku. I wouldn't even be explaining this to you right now!"
She lets out a faint giggle, "I guess you're right."
I lean my head back to glance down at her, "You can break all the rules you want, just don't get us in trouble, alright?"
She smiles at me, but it's a type of smile that makes me remember how amazing Rin really is. Her golden blonde hair and those scintillating blue eyes.... Without properly thinking, I make my way towards her to dive in for a kiss. Just as I get close enough, I notice Rin's hand covering her mouth.I raise an eyebrow, confused.
She snickers, "I'm getting you ready for school."
With a playful sigh, I move her hand away from her lips, "Oh, hush." Then, I get to do what I wanted to do in the first place. A sense of serenity fills my senses.
Today is great, and hopefully tomorrow will be even better. I can't lie though... I have no idea what rumors Miku has spread about Rin and I. It's almost a guarantee that things will be hectic on Monday, but I'll try my best to look past that.
