15 year old me was sitting on the stairs of our small house at the edge of Newyork city ,the many battles had left it in ruins .The wind cold as it always was ,a typical Saturday on the western side ,i hear some kids playing in the distance , we never play with the kids around here because were afraid of being attacked ,just as that thought ran through my mind the fireworks started ,meteors streaked through the sky above me and crashed into the city before me.right on their tail were the fighter jets ,thats when i realized what was happening ,under the jets in purple paint was the head of a tiger ,the kins logo!
I jumped to my feet and turned as i heard the door to our house fly open my father froze his hazel eyes scanning the horror causing the wrinkles in his face to deepen.I look alot like him, the same eyes ,his pitch black hair and his straight nose but I've always envied his easy going worry free personality ,so when he's worried, like now ,you know something bad was going to happen. "Get in the house now Seth!"he screamed and grabbed me by the arm and literally throws me through the doorway and slams the door behind him locking all six of the locks.My mom was on one knee near the sofa trying to convince my crying little sister that everything is going to be ok,"No Katlan the bad men are not going take our cookies.I promise."She got up and went over and started to talk to dad in a hushed tone they seem to be arguing.I went over to Katlan and picked up where my mother left off .Mom was obviously getting worried cause their argument was getting more heated and i could have made out some of the words "what ....their.... More powerful"
"Don't worry it.....work.".Mom left the room and returned seconds later with some gloves ,she came over to me and shoved a pair into my hands then turned to Katlan and started putting the gloves on her tiny hands
Then she got up and brushed her raven hair out of her face"put those on and don't make any skin contact with anyone ok!"
"Why ?"
"Just don't!"
I pulled on the gloves with out any further protests .at this point mom was pacing back and forth on the floor and dad was leaning against the wall with his hands on his head.Then it happened ,the door smashed into peices and in the doorway was a kin soldier with another soldier in his arms he just walked in and put the guy on our couch that's when i saw that it was a girl."I told you not to come!Just stay here i'll get a healer"
Then he just flew right up straight through the roof not even acknowledging the scared little family mom went over to look at the woman she had a wound in her leg goshing blood as my mom approached i noticed a slight movement of her hand as it clenched around her gun ,I reacted without thinking launched myself at her and tried to wrestle the gun from her hand but the second I touched I felt it and she most have felt it too because her grip on the weapon loosened and it went flying across the room I stepped back a little dizzy when I touched her i felt like electricity ran through me. I shook off the feeling and hugged my mom"are you dizzy or anything"she asked
"no mom i'm fine"she seemed suddenly relieved ,that's when the healer came in I turned just as he pulled the trigger on his weapon BAM!! I heard the shot felt the warm blood but I knew I wasnt bleeding.I watched my mother's body fall limp to the ground.I fell to my knees ,I didnt scream ,I didnt I didnt cry ,there was just this huge blackhole where my heart should be."Put your hands up" he screamed ,my dad did as he asked but not me Im the stupid one"do it now or you are dead! "I stood to my feet ,it felt like the blackhole in my chest exploded ,then I charged him.I saw my fist collide with his face but I didnt feel it and he didnt move and I didnt care I just wanted to put in as many punches as I can before I die,and so I punched and kicked him until I was drained then I stoped and looked him .He didnt move a millimeter since before I attacked his gun was still held up and his mouth was half open.It was as if I was just punching a brick wall.I back up a bit and looked around ,my dad was frozen,katlan,the woman and everyone outside and It was so quiet. the second I realized something was wrong everything went back to normal,the sounds returned and then something great happened. I saw the soldier's head jerk to the left and then I felt a thump on my right fist ,his head jerks to the right ,another thump in my left fist ,I watch him stumble backward out the door as if he was kicked in his midsection ,he tripped over the stairs managing to right his balance ,he waves his hand around wildly trying to ward off the invisible blows ,his hands gripped at parts of his body in pain his left leg was swept out from under him ,I hear the crack as his knee collides with the asphalt .His head jerk back and he tumbles to the ground .He finally stands up ,blood pour from multiple cuts in his face,his purple tiger stripped kin army outfit was soaked in blood he started limping over to me and I watch as the blood runs back into the wounds and the wounds reseals .he limped up the stairs and approached me ,now completely healed, I looked up at him, not sure of my emotions.He smiles then grabs me and throws me outside ,I was Instantly surrounded by kin soldiers"that ones a traitor!"I hear the healer yell.one of the soldiers grab me and dragged me over to a large transport plane where he locked me in a cage .The last thing I saw was the healer carrying away my screaming sister on his shoulder, I see him stumble but little did I know that little stumble will soon save my life.
