I have never opened this book before to anyone. I feel that now is the right time to open this book and share the story of a mortal who discovers the secret of the pixies. My name is Tamara. I'm the eldest and wisest of all pixies. This story is about a young human called Katrana. You may have heard this story before but you've never heard the real story. Not everything has a scientific reason. ~Tamara
Chapter 1: The Discovery
I woke up to an annonymous sound. It was like nothing i've ever heard before. It was like some strange tree rustling but it sounded more like someone fell nd then burst into pixie dust. I ran downstairs to find my best friend Laila standing there. She seemed very frustrated. I then looked at my watch and realized that we were going to miss the bus if we didn't hurry. I grabbed a piece of bread, my lunch, and got dressed. We got to the bus stop just in time.
"You're lucky this time Kat" Laila said when we settled down on the bus.
"What? Am I gonna be toast if we are late even once?"
"Yes. You know I can't be late even once."
I sighed. Laila's parent's were so strict, they wouldn't even let her be late for one second. They expected her to get into Stuy or something. I think they're too strict but I guess all asian parents are like that.
"I know," I said sighing. "Your parents are way too strict on you."
Laila shrugged. "It's not my fault."
I looked at her with a boosy look on my face that said "Really?" with a lot of sarcasim.
She rolled her eyes and just looked at me and said, "Really."
Sometimes, it's so unbelievable how she can just look me straight in the eyes and be so straight forward. I wish I could do that. I always get a little jingle whenever I try.
Laila looked at me and said, "Do you have any new gossip?"
"Lets see..." I racked my brain of anything that happened lately. That was when I remembered the strange sound that woke me up. I started to say, "Well something strange did happen..."
Just then, the bus schreeched to a stop and the doors opened. Just saying, I hate when that happens. I guess i'd have to tell Laila about the strange sound later. Right now, we had to seperate. Laina had math first period and I had English first.
At lunch, the cafeteria was serving some kind of chicken or meat. Thankfully, my parents packed me lunch. I hate cafeteria food. I gave half of my turkey sandwich to Laina. I'm not much of an eater. I was beginning to tell her about the sound when "Mandy" walked in. That little brat thinks that just because she's rich, she can get anything.
"Well, well. If it isn't the losers."
"Well, well. If it isn't Mandy."
"Har, Har. Very funny Katrana."
"What do you want?"
"I don't want anything."
"Oh please. Everytime you talk to me or even come near me, you want something."
"I just wanted to let you know that your cool enough to become a part of my click as long as you dump the asian chick." She turned to look at Laina and then sashayed away. I hate when she sashays away. She's been bugging me about joining her stupid click ever since I started dating Peter. I don't get what the big deal is anyways. Peter may be her crush but get over it girl. He's mine with a capital M.
"What were you saying before Mandy came?" Laina asked.
"Oh right. I woke up when I heard this strange sound. It was like all magical sounding and like leaves falling."
