Pierce woke up to the feeling of prickly grass and chilled winter air nipping at his sleeveless arms. Sitting up, he felt a wave of nauseous panic wash over him. He wasn't in his house and he definitely wasn't in his warm, safe bed. His parents had only just pulled out of the driveway when he went out like a light. Had they been the ones to drop him off here? They were supposed to be on their way to Disney World, right?
Finally, standing up and looking around; he took in the fact that this looked nothing like his quaint snow covered town, but more like a dead, dried up cornfield. The grass he had been lying in was dead as well. He cringed when he saw a spider crawl close to his feet, he hoped none had crawled into his hair. Jumping when he felt something cold and wet on his shoulder; he looked up to see dark, almost black, rain clouds seemingly going on for infinity. Focusing on the thought that he had to get moving before it starts pouring, he walked in the direction of which he decided was north.
After walking for what seemed like forever he came across an old, rickety house. It looked like something out of a horror movie. There were holes in the wood from what I guess were termites, the shutters on the windows were halfway torn off, and the way the house creaked and moaned in the shrieking wind was bloodcurdling. But the creepiest thing was the strange blue light emitting from the roof. He heard thunder after examining the house. Knowing he would soon have to escape from the storm; he started working up the courage to actually walk in. Thinking about happy things he started inching towards the house.
