Natalie was currently home in Chicago. She had just started school so she was a bit busy but she always made time to text her boyfriend of 3 years, Johnny. They had met back in high school and they always had a thing for each other neither of them did anything about it though. That was until NCT 127 came to Chicago on their first US tour and they reunited.

She quickly walked to class and pulled out her phone once she sat down. Most people would think the time difference would be hard but for them but they always made it work. It was until recently that Natalie felt Johnny becoming distant. She was so used to the goodmorning and goodnight texts that when it suddenly stopped she couldn't help but think what could be going wrong.

She sighed seeing no text and started to type.

It was still a decent hour in Korea and Johnny didn't go to sleep early so she hoped she would get a text back.

It was a little later on and still no text back. She sighed getting a little frustrated. It had already been a month that he had been acting strange and she hadn't brought it up because she knew he was busy but it was never a problem before. Suddenly her phone vibrated and she saw it was Johnny.

Natalie could feel tears building up. She hated the feeling of being pushed away. She decided to call Jaehyun, one of Johnny's closest friends, to see if he knew anything.

"Natalie? Is everything okay?" He asked his voice a little husky from almost being asleep.

"I'm so sorry for waking you. I just- I don't know what to do." She said chocking up at the end. Jaehyun was always someone Johnny and Natalie could both go to for advice. He asked what was wrong and Natalie explained everything to him.

"I know how frustrating that can be. I promise I will talk to him. You don't deserve to be ignored." Jaehyun said, softness in his voice.

Natalie went on with her day, going to the rest of her classes and going to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for dinner. As she was taking out her groceries when her phone started ringing. She quickly hurried over to pick it up seeing it was Johnny which made her stomach flutter.

"Hey." She said smiling happy to see hear boyfriends voice after a while.

"Hey baby." He said. He was sitting in front of his window, dreading what he was about to tell her.

"Just woke up?" She asked.

"Yeah couldn't really sleep though." She started to become worried.

"Oh really? You okay?"

"Uh yeah, could we facetime?" Without saying anything she quickly facetimed him.

"Sorry I look a mess." She said brushing through her hair.

"You don't." He said looking at his hands. He seemed nervous.

"So what's up? Everything okay?"

"I um I don't know how to say this." Natalie's heart started to beat fast.

"I just want you to know how much I love you okay."

"What's wrong Johnny you're scaring me." She said stopping everything she was doing.

"Nat, I- I think we should take a break." Her heart dropped.

"Uh I-." So many thoughts went through her head. She couldn't really process what was going on.

"I'm sorry, It's just- I just feel like we're drifting apart and I don't know maybe we need time apart to focus on ourselves." He said finally looking at her. You could tell he was crying. Natalie could also feel tears about to fall from her eyes. They stayed silent for a few seconds.

"Natalie, please say something." Johnny asked desperately. She couldn't say anything. She was feeling so many emotions at once. She looking down at the bracelet Johnny had got her for one of their anniversaries and finally let her tears fall.

"I- I love you so so much. I don't know why you're doing this because I thought everything was fine between us. Clearly I was wrong." She said nervously playing with her bracelet.

"Nat- please." He said wanting to explain himself.

"I wish you the best because you are a great person Johnny. You made me feel so loved before but you need a break and I'll respect that. I'll be here whenever you need me I promise." She said trying to keep herself together.

"You don't know how much this hurts me Nat but please understand I need time to be a better man and get myself together." He said sniffing.

"Okay." Natalie said quietly, Johnny almost didn't hear her. They stayed quiet, both of them glancing at each other.

"Well I better go I was about to start making dinner." She said wiping her face.

"I love you." He said wiping his face as well.

"I love you."
