Y/N - your name
Y/FN - your full name

You had just finished your medical degree and had already taken a job. You hadn't started working yet but you were about to tomorrow. You didn't know much about this hospital, only that it's called "Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital" and your boss is Dr. Gregory House.

You laid down on your bed that night listening to the typical January weather and your favourite blues vinyl record which your parents got you for Christmas. You let it play over as you began to wonder what your first day at the hospital would be like. After a lot of daydreams and procrastinations, you put the record away eventually and tried to get some sleep.

— the next day —

You were woken up by the loud sounds of your alarm, you turned over to check the time and it was 6:30 am.
You took a shower, got dressed and grabbed something quick for breakfast. It was really early but you didn't want to hit traffic, be late and make a bad impression on your new boss.
You already made a pretty bad impression while you were studying in med school. You didn't really pay attention, always went to parties when you should have been studying, and made jokes out of the lessons you went to. It must have been some sort of miracle that you got your degree.

You arrived around 7:40 am which was perfect.
The car park was pretty full but you found a space at the far back and parked there.
It was pretty icy so you were careful walking to the front doors as you didn't want to embarrass yourself by falling over.
As you eventually got there, you were immediately greeted by a good looking man who was dressed very smartly. He smiled and said "Hey, I heard House had a new recruit in the team, you're y/n, right?"
You shook his hand and replied with "yeah, it's my first day today"
"I'm Dr. Wilson, if House is rude, not bothered or anything like that, don't take it personally, he's like that to everyone. I'll walk you to his office so he knows you're here if you'd like?"
"Yes, thank you" you said.
You felt like you should say more but you didn't really know what to say, he seemed like the kind of person you could talk to about anything. You felt like you could be friends with this man.

As you were walking, Wilson told you a lot about what to expect in the hospital and offered to give you a tour later.
"House's office is the next door down, I'll leave you to it, have a great first day." He said.
"Thank you very much" you replied.
"Good luck with House!" He added as he walked away.
You smiled and began to make your way to House's office.

House had a glass transparent door. It read Gregory House M.D.
Through the door you could see a good-looking man sitting in an office chair with his feet on his desk and throwing a red and grey ball into the air and catching it again.
You took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
House continued to throw the ball and gave it his full attention. Without looking at you he half-shouted "It's a glass door, you can clearly see I'm not doing anything. Why knock?"
You walked in and said "I'm y/fn, you hired me last month."
He stopped what he was going and looked at you. "Fun" he said sarcastically as he went back to his ball.

Just as you were about to say something back, a doctor walked in.
"Hey, I'm Dr. Foreman. You're y/n, right?"
He said. You nodded in response.
"Wilson told me you were in here, he said he doubted House would do anything to help you through your first day. You'll be apart of our team which Wilson told you about."
"Yeah, hi Foreman, thanks" you replied.

House looked up and said "Foreman! Don't forget to tell your mom to call my mom so we can play later!" With sarcasm of course.
Forman rolled his eyes and began to escort you to meet the rest of the team before you get a case.

Later in the day after you had met the team, Cameron walked in with a clipboard and announced a new case.
"Female, 25, collapsed, had a seizure and has continuous headaches."
You and the other doctors sat down at the glass table as House got up from his chair and picked up a pen to write on the board with.

After a lot of discussion on what the diagnosis could be, House, you and the team walked into the patient's room and you could tell House was irritating the patient.
"How long have you been having these headaches?" House asked
"A couple of weeks" she replied.
"You couldn't be more specific?" He asked as if he was annoyed.
The patient sighed and she answered his questions.
House decided it was a Neurological problem and called for Wilson to treat her.
————
Later at lunch you sat alone with a sandwich and a Diet Coke when House suddenly sat opposite you.
"You were very quiet today, what's your problem?" He asked
You sighed and rolled your eyes.
"I don't have a problem, I'm just not good at socialising." You said.
"People suck" he said.
You laughed a little and was about to say something else before Wilson came to your table.

"Hey Y/N, House" he said.
You smiled as a response and House just took a bite of his food.
"I've diagnosed the patient with brain cancer" Wilson said.
"Sucks for her" House said.
"House, you seriously have no feelings do you?" Wilson said. You could tell he was frustrated.
"I do feel things. I feel the damn pain in my leg which is why I take this Vicodin."
He said while shaking the bottle.
"It's yummy" he said with sarcasm yet again.
Wilson rolled his eyes and walked off to treat the patient.

You were surprised House started talking to you. You thought he would just ignore you completely.
"So you like music?" House asked after an awkward silence.
"Yeah, I like blues" you said. You didn't want to say anything wrong by accident, you weren't scared of him but you didn't want him to fire you. He seemed like the kind of person to do that.
"Me too, I've got some records in my office, you should come and listen to a few after the day is over, mine are the best." He said.

So many thoughts were going through your mind. Is he trying to be nice? Does he want something? Had one of the doctors told him to talk to me?
