"I'm craving a buffet I hope y'all coo wit it. After I'm fed Ima take y'all to get ya hair did and I'll take a nap cause after I eat a bitch be trynna lay up. But after that then ima take y'all shopping."
Jordan blinked looking towards Jaleel seeing the boy smile as he sang to the song him and the dark skin —who he found out was called D.J.— harmonized singing loudly.
The white male who he found out was D.J.'s child hood best friend they did literally everything together except fuck. That's exactly how D.J. introduced him. Alex was way more quite than D.J. which Jordan appreciated.
Jordan didn't know how to feel about the pair. Apparently D.J. was Jaleel's sister so the boys aunt although she prefers to just be called D.J. because she said entitlements don't mean shit when your dead. He couldn't even lie and say he didn't respect the older lady.
"We getting our hair did?"
Jaleel asked cutely tilting his head on question. Jordan had to stop his blushing by looking down at the floor trying to stop his beating heart. It seem every day he would act more and more like a love sick fool.
"Yeah I figured y'all don't wanna go into high school struggling with ya hair or whatever. So I'm thinking Jordan you get some dreads started and a tempt fade. Then Jaleel ima have them do you a lil fuck boy look with dem braids and the puff. Oowwweee you young niggas finna be snatching bitches and taking names."
Alex and D.J. laughed—more like giggled— as they pulled up to the buffet. They had never been up to this area it was near the rich white people they wouldn't want two young black big up around here without reason.
Jordan felt nervous as he hopped out out the Jeep walking behind the three. It had been years since he'd eaten at a restaurant other than McDonalds or another fast food place.
He felt poor walking towards the four door building.
"Come on Jordy! Alex told me they got fish we can look at while they pay."
Jordan smiled nodding as Jaleel dragged him in the restaurant toward a fish fountain that had to small fish floating dead. It was a let down honestly.
Jordan looked towards Jaleel seeing the boy still smiling happily as he held onto his stuffed bunny as watching the water and dead fish. Jordan didn't know either to swoon and be concerned.
"Come on y'all."
Jordan looked up seeing Alex walking away not waiting for them as he followed a excitedly skipping D.J. She must be hungry.
"Ok ok Alex and Jordan y'all sit here and watch my shit while we go get our first plates then we just continue that pattern."
D.J. And Jaleel bounced around smiling at the two waiting for the okay from both blushing males. Jordan nodded making Jaleel smile as he gave the boy his stuffed bunny looking serious as if saying watch it or your dead.
Jordan looked over seeing D.J. give the same face to a still flushed Alex. It seemed Jordan wasn't the only one with a child hood crush.

"Nigga no! I want fucking both! I want the damn pretzel and cheese plus the fucking cinnamon bites. Now did y'all want anything?"
D.J. yelled at Alex as the man tried to remind her they just ate but that only made the girl madder. She looked towards the two shorter males smiling as they stepped to the front.
"Jordy and I want to share a large pretzel."
D.J. just nodded not paying attention to Jaleel as she went to the counter.
"Lemme get thirty mini pizza bites, thirty minutes cinnamon sugar bites, thirty mini pretzel dogs and thirty plain pretzel. Then for the sauces I want all of em except bitch ass cream cheese. Oh and two red slushees and two blue."
Jordan was gaping as Alex shook his head rolling his eyes as he paid while Jaleel was excited to have the soft pretzel for the first time.
Jordan played with his newly locked hair letting the soft coils shake as they sat at a table. He looked over to Jaleel who was excited talking about them passing eighth grade and their plans for high school.
"Oh y'all ball? Yo daddy use to always take us to the court back inna day talkin bout he was Micheal's lost and ghetto other half."
D.J. smiled at Jaleel playing with the boys chubby hands before her face suddenly lit up and she walked to the counter before taking off with Jaleel leaving behind to confused males.
They sat in awkward silence for a while Alex occasionally looking at his phone and slurping his slushy as Jordan people watched.
"So what do ya think?"
"Think of what?"
"Whaddya think of us?"
Jordan looked at Alex seeing the man nervously playing with his curly hair was was cut and styled to be on his forehead. He ran a hand over his finely cut mustache before scratching his beard waiting for Jordan's answer.
"Y'all coo people. We really appreciate y'all taking us out even if it's fo a little while."
Jordan sincerely smiled looking towards a little girl who was throwing a fit on the ground.
"Well we I mean D.J. plans on adopting y'all and getting soul custody of y'all. She's been trying to be able to see y'all fo years and even tried reaching out but it was no luck."
"What changed?"
Jordan asked raising an uninterested eyebrow as the food was sat informs of them. He looked around seeing no Jaleel or D.J.
"D.J. is nosy and doesn't let anything go until it's resolved the best way she believes it can be handled. So one day when she was being nosy she found out the school basketball couch of our school was on the phone with y'all highschool coach talking bout this year and shit. She heard y'all names demanded answers and reached y'all down with that bitch I mean yo mom."
"Naw you good continue."
Jordan was genuinely interested now. He assumed all of Jaleels family were not worthy of his precious Jaleel or they were dead. Who would have thought someone was searching for the boy all along.
"Well she had been mailing letters to yo grandmas house once a month for years never stopping although she never got a response. She just wanted Jaleel to know she was out there waiting for the only family she had left to finally get in touch with her."
Alex paused eating three pizza bites before sipping his drink. He cleared his throat looking to the side still seeing no D.J. or Jaleel.
"About a month ago we finally had went on summer break and we finally went to your grandmas house looking for y'all. She told us she hadn't seen her own daughter in a year or two. Apparently ya mom was picking up the letters once a year from her mom and she hadn't came yet. She told us where y'all lived and we had to get some legal papers filled out before we saw y'all."
Alex smiled biting into three cinnamon bites and sipping his drink and smiling seeing D.J. walk back over with a smug smile and a blushing Jaleel.
"Why yo face like that?"
Jordan wasn't talking to anyone particularly as he looked the tow over seeing Jaleel set a bag on the ground and nibbling a bite his face beaming. It made a Jordan blush looking down.
"I bout him things he needs. Pull ya nose and eat he'll tell you when he ready."
Jordan rolled his eyes eating some more of the good as he saturated at the chattering Jaleel who was talking to Alex.
He could get used to this. The four of them. Then eventually just him and Jaleel. That would make him happy.
