It was the day before he returned to school after Christmas, he was getting all packed to go back, but he was stuck in a home that made him present as someone he wasn't for the entire break, he didn't visit friends or go out of the manor at all. He had been confident in his gender identity for nearly a year now, he thought he was crazy and that there was no one else in the world like him. He was in 4th year, he was Draco, not Darcy, he was a boy, not a girl.He had come out to his best friend recently and she had given him a chest binder for Christmas, he never wanted to take it off after he put it on for the first time, he had never been so grateful to have a friend like her. She was so understanding, although she didn't fully get it, she tried to listen and empathize with him. When he came out to her she came out to him as a lesbian, he 100% called it. "Darcy! Come on hurry up and finish packing! You don't want to be panicking in the morning!" Narcissa shouted "Okay mum" He hated the name Darcy, it was so...girly. He just wished he had a nickname so he didn't have to be associated with that name.
(time skip to the train)
"Hey Draco" Pansy said leaning in from the door, her fringe falling to the side. "Hey Pansy. Sit down" They were already in their robes but Draco was wearing a skirt, he hated skirts. "Blaise went to Diagon Alley and got enough trousers to last you a year. He'll give them to you when we get to the common room."
"Tell him I said thanks. And also thanks so much for the binder it fits perfectly."
"No problem, I want you be comfortable." Pansy was the kind of girl that looked tough on the outside, but was the kindest you could ever meet when you get to know her.*Harry's pov*
We all got onto the train and were walking down, then I saw someone i hadn't seen before. They were around the same age as me, were they new? But when they turned around, it was Malfoy. She always thought she was perfect, her perfect body that every girl was jealous of. She had nice curves. Not that I'd date her or anything. I'm gay. But I noticed something different about her, her chest was flat. Like boy flat, it didn't bother me too much.
Last year she did always have her hands under her arms when she could. Why? When we finally got to a compartment that we thought was empty, which wasn't. We had no choice but to sit down in there. Everywhere else was full and we were trapped where we were. The small hall that leads down was packed. When we opened the door I was met by two faces I absolutely hated. Malfoy and Parkinson. "Malfoy?!"
"Why are you here Potter?"
"Everywhere else is full and we're stuck here now so budge up." She rolled her eyes her eyes at me, grabbed a book on hair spells and sat next to Parkinson. Girls. I rolled my eyes. Why are they so obsessed with their hair?*Draco's pov*
Potter is in our compartment, now I can't use the hair spell to make it short. I was practicing the motion but then I accidentally cast the spell. When I did, I immediately felt my hair leave my shoulders. When it was done Pansy looked up at me with tears in her eyes. "What's wrong Pans?" I whispered, but Potter still heard me, so he looked up snooping in on our conversation. "Dray, it worked!" she whisper yelled.
I felt my hair and, it was indeed short. She handed me her hand mirror so I could see. It was perfect, I was holding back tears because Potter would start questioning me. It was too hard so I just let myself cry. "Why you crying Malfoy?" Weasley teased. "SHUT UP WEASLEY, LET HIM CRY! HE'S HAPPY"
"He? Him? Do you know who that is? That is Darcy Malfoy. A girl." This made me tense up. Pansy saw me tense up, so she took me to another compartment."Hey. Draco it's okay, he's an arsehole. You know this." this comforted me. We were talking and laughing, then we heard a knock on the door. It wasn't the trolley lady, it was... Potter?
"Potter?" he gave a small smile, walked inside and sat down. "I'm sorry for what Ron said, it was uncalled for."
"It's fine." I said glaring at him. "So about... the hair. Why did you make it short?" I gulped and handed him a note It said nothing, it only had five colours. It was the trans flag, I didn't think he'd understand, but he did. He completely understood. "I'm so sorry Malfoy. If you're not Darcy," I cringed at the name "Then what's your name?"
"Draco. The dragon constellation. It's a pureblood tradition to name your children after constellations. I wanted to do that."
"Cool. Mind if I stay here? Ron's going to argue with me when I get back."
"Sure"
