Jennifer never really thought about her future. Of course when it came to mind she just brushed it away - reinforcing the idea that she had a lot of time to figure it out. Little did she know, she would have to be making a decision that would change her life sooner than she expected.
This story takes place in the late 90's; when she was only 17. She was always the sort of teenager that remained unnoticed throughout high school. She only had two friends but she was happy nevertheless .
It was 1st period and Jennifer couldn't help but sight at the clock in front of the classroom; that seemed as if it had been frozen for the past 2 hours.
Jennifer was in her school's black uniform with a skirt that went up an inch above her knees.
"I'm so fucking bored" she sighed again , this time she glanced at her friend Martin who was vigorously stabbing a rubber. Martin was a total nerd who's only love interest was physics and maths. He never really tried hard to fit in - purely because he knew he could never. He was a blonde haired boy wearing the school's black uniform to perfection with a bunch of award badges on the left of his blazer.
"Tell me about it!" he said turning the rubber around and continuing to stab it vigorously.
Then Jennifer felt a slap on her left arm.
She looked to her left and Sarah looked annoyed. Sarah was wearing a black hijab that went with the schools uniform, unlike Jennifer Sarah wore trousers.
"You better pay attention! Miss is not going to explain this again and i'm not doing your homework again!" she whispered.
"Silence! Sarah do you have something to share with the class?" asked the teacher.
Jennifer and Martin held in their laughs as Sarah was at the edge of a panic attack
They stood there in awkward silence until the head teacher walked in with a student.
This student wasn't wearing their blazer and was wearing a checkered belt loosely set around their waist. they were wearing a loose white shirt and their bag was filled with emo band pins and a pride flag stitched onto it.
"I'm sorry for interrupting this class but this is the new student who transferred here from Romania " He said .
The head teacher kept on talking but as Jennifer saw them enter the room she entered a trance.
This new kid's beauty was inhuman and Jennifer couldn't help but to blush as their eyes met .
She was lost in their eyes , that were staring back at hers. Those emeralds were slowly getting darker as their pupils started to dilate with the tension and electricity in the air
"Jennifer did you hear that? Are you okay with Jae sitting next to you? I was moving Sarah either way." asked the teacher to which Sarah frowned.
"Uh, Okay . That's alright."She answered.
With that Sarah got up and Jae took Sarah's place.
Jennifer was almost trembling with nervousness at this point.
15 mins passed .
Jae and Jennifer had been pretending to listen to the teacher but really they couldn't get out of each other's thoughts.
Jae decided to break the silence.
"Allow me to introduce myself" Jae said turning to Jennifer.
Jennifer just nodded and brushed her hair to the side in hopes of calming her nerves.
"My name is Jae Salavastru and you are?" Jae asked
Jennifer froze for a bit before answering
"Uhm, my name is... Well my name is... My name starts with.." she stuttered
Martin interrupted her.
"Her name is Jennifer Von di Count and yes she would like to get to know you better" Martin said nodding his head in disappointment.
Martin reached out for a hand shake "My name is Martin by the way.. I'm sorry for my friend here she isn't used to people showing any kind of interest on her" Martin explained.
"Oh, and I'm Sarah by the way... the one you took the seat from" Sarah said slightly angry.
Jae turned around and grabbed Sarah's hand for a respectfull kiss on the hand; but Sarah pulled her hand from them .
"Well, excuse you . We just met!!" Sarah said annoyed.
"My apologies. This is purely something we do back in my country." said Jae.
The bell rings and the teacher leaves along with everyone but Jae and Jennifer who were still putting their stuff away.
"So, will show me around?" Jae Politely asked .
As they both grabbed their pencil cases to put them away Jennifer accidentally touched Jae's hand and she instantly flinched to how ice cold it was.
"Aren't you cold?" asked Jennifer confused.
"Uh, not really. I'm known to have a lower body temperature.. its a medical condition." Answered Jae, nervously.
"Okay, lets go. I don't wan't to miss break" Said Jennifer walking away towards the door
