The hunger games

Chapter 7

From the moment the injured man entered the cave i felt stressed. He stumbled in and collapsed onto the ground.Rue opens her eyes and sees him laying there. Her eyes fill with tears and she gets up. "Thresh." She whispers.

I sit next to Thresh and examine the wounds in his chest and stomach. I begin to tell Rue what i need to fix him,and that's when a cannon goes off. I look up at Rue and see her wide, teary eyes. "I'm so sorry Rue." I say softly. She walks out of the cave andi'm forced to pull Thresh's lifeless body outside by myself so he can be taken home.

"Rue where are you going?" I ask, having to yell because she won't slow down. I chase her until i catch up to her. The tears from her eyes are gone and they've been replaced with complete and utter hate, anger and determination.

"We're going to find the careers, and we're going to make them pay." She says bluntly. I swallow hard and follow her.

I can hearlaughing and stop dead in my tracks. Rue hurrys up a tree and pulls a satchel full of knives out. I follow her up the tree a little slower than she managed and sit next toher. "What are you going to do?" I ask.

"I'm going to kill them one by one. Do you wanna help?" She doesn't smile, or frown. She just sits there picking out who to kill first. I shakemy head. "No thanks."I don't want to kill anyone.

She lines the knives up one by one and i hold my breath. I notice a tear roll down her cheek and she starts to throw the knives. First Glimmer. She gets hit straight in the side of her head killing herinstantly. A cannon fires. Next Clove. It hits her in the heart. Killing her fast as well. And them Cato. Rue has 2 knives left. "I know he did this." She says. 

She throws the knife and it hitsCato in the stomach. He falls to the ground. Rue jumps from the tree and walks over to Cato, i slide down the trunk after her and run to them. 

Rue stands over him like a hawk waiting for it's prey to take a last breath. "You miserable human." She says and kicks him. I stand there and Cato stares at me. "Help me, please." Cato says softky with a raspy voice.

I can't save him but i can't just stand here. "Rue, just kill him." I say.She turns her head to me. "What! So he gets to make Thresh suffer and Thresh's family, but i can't make him?" She replies. The tears now fall extremely fast from her eyes.

"Please, just kill me." Cato whinges. Rue steps i the knife that's in Cato's stomach andit pushes in further causing Cato to scream. "I'm just going to let you lay here Cato." She says and we walk away.

Once we are out of ear shot from the dying Cato i take the knife from Rue andput it in my belt. I lean overto her and hug her tight. "I'm so sorry about Thresh." I say, lettingtears fall. We hear a cannon and know now that Cato has died. 

"Let's go see him get taken away." Rue says . We walk back over to where Cato is laying, but he's not dead. There is someone else laying on the ground in a pool of blood. The blonde hair and skinny body send asharp pain into me.

"Peeta!" I scream. I roll him over and see his bright blue eyes are now a pale grey. I see the knife in his stomach and my hands are covered in blood. I pull the knife from him andi feel a hard lump in my thoat.

I can feel Rue's presence behind me. "Prim, he's gone." She says, i  can now hear some emotion in her voice. I hold the knife in my hand and feel every other vibe in my body go numb.

I make my way over to Cato and look athim smiling. I scream at him and jam the knife straight into his eye. "I hope you go to hell." I yell.

Another cannon goes off. I go back to Peeta who is laying lifelessly on the ground. A hovercraft comes even though Rue and i are still here and opens a door to lower the cage. I pull the knife from my belt and throw it into the door, hopingto kill someone from the capitol.

Rue grabs my shoulder and tries to pull me into the forest. I grab the knife from out of Cato and let Rue drag me into the trees. "Primrose what did you just do?!" She yells. I breathe heavily with no words, I just let the tears drain from my eyes.

"It's only us. We are the only two people left Rue." I say. Rue looks at me sympathetically as we walk back to where the cornicopia is. It suddenly starts to rain. We sit in the rain for hours just talking. The suddenly Rue grabsmy knife from my belt. 

"Kill me Rue, i don't care anymore." I say and drop my head. "Prim, i'm not killing you." She says abck. I look up to see what she's doing. She has the knife up to her thoat. "I love you Prim, i love you like a sister. I hope you don't forgetme." She says. I scream. "Rue stop! No!" But it's too late.

A cannon goes off and then a voice fills the arena. "Congratulations Primrose Everdeen, ourdistrict 12 victorof the seventy-forth annual hunger games." The voice echoes through me. "NO." I say loudly.

I grab the knife from on the ground, in one instant i'm regretting this. I push the knife forcefully into my stomach and scream. "You don't get a victor."

I black out and the last thing i saw was Rue's dead body.
