I heard through the closed wooden doors. I laughed out loud. Sphinx, witch? Wait- if they think I’m a witch-
“Capture her!” I heard someone yell.
I teetered back and forth on my feet wondering what I should do, gritting my teeth.
“Hey! She’s still outside.” I heard the voices come closer. I took off my shoes, and flung one of them behind me hoping it might possibly hinder my pursuers while I started fleeing into the darkness.
Thump Thump, goes my heart. Where was the goshdang fairy godmother when you needed her?
I could hear the thuds get dangerously close.
Then suddenly, my colorful world went blank.
