This morning Emily announced that she and Joel, and Chris, Connor, Jason, Nico and Liam we're going on a trip to California, jason wasn't supposed to go but apparently there is a girl there he likes so he tagged along. There going for a week, she's leaving me, Logan and Jake here, and Will went back to uni.
Ok, so far Logan has been all but nice to me. After my date with the kitchen fridge for chocolate last night he was possibly more rude than he'd ever been before. He implied I was worthless to him and Jake just wanted to get in my pants, or something like that. Sounds to me as if he's jealous, but I'm not sure what of.
I glance at the clock and realise I've almost spent an entire five minutes on my ramblings. I bolt upwards and head for a quick cold shower to wake me up, after all it is 3:40 in the morning. I spend under five minutes in the shower and quickly out on my green sports bra, Nike singlet, Skins with sports shorts and my green and black Nike track shoes. I throw my hair up into a bun, grab my puff and monitor and jog downstairs, I grab my phone off the counter and pick up a Gatorade on my way out to the yard.
When I finally make it to the track down the back of the yard, and it's a pretty big yard, must be an acre at least, if not two, it's 3:55 am. I spend five minutes stretching my leg muscles and arm muscles sufficiently so I won't injure myself while running. As the clock on my phone strikes four am Shauna comes walking down the path.
"You're here, good, I like an athlete that can stick by her schedules. Now I trust you've warmed up?" She asks.
"Yup." She nods.
"Good, now this morning we will do conditioning to make sure your body is in working order and then this afternoon we'll start with some small training, once you've finished conditioning I want you in an ice bath for fifteen minutes to prevent injury." I stifle a groan.
"Ok. Now give me 400 reps of each push ups, sit ups, burpees, star jumps, crunches, lunges, squats, climbing lunges, and then you'll have a fifteen minute break and do it all again." I nod and set to work. It's not that bad compared to what I've been through before. I have to stop every fifteen to twenty minutes for a puffer and to check my monitor but it seems to be going well.
Within an hour I've finished my first round and I go over to break on the bench. It's only five am so there is minimal sound in the house, I think Jake is going for a run. I finish my break, take a puff off my sports puffer, check my monitor to make sure I'm still within the 100 zone and get back to doing my second round.
It's 6:10 am when I finish and Shauna sets me off doing ten laps of an Olympic sized track. Not as if I'm already dying. I put up with it and continue. I'm on my eighth lap when I see Shauna talking with someone else. That someone else has blonde hair and a loud mouth.
"I don't care if she's using it! It's my track and I need to train!" Wow rude much.
"I'm not stopping you from training young man, you may certainly run alongside her, there is more than one lane."
"I'm not going anywhere near her, why is she there anyway, she'll never make a comeback, she'll probably die of whatever it is that's killing her before she gets there." I'm about to finish my last lap when I hear her talk again.
"Young man that is not something to joke about, she may not know it but what you said could very well come true, now I suggest that if you don't want to be near her you stop complaining, I'm not stopping my athletes' training for that of a school track captain."
I gape a little as I finish my tenth lap. She must mean what could happen to me if I over exert myself and don't take the preventive medication Emily came home with yesterday. Yes, of course she must mean that, nothing's killing me, I'm not dying. I shake the silly thought from my head and walk over as Shauna leaves Logan standing at the entrance to the track.
