"Wake up."
"You need to wake up."
"WAKE UP!"
The whispers became louder every night. Every damn night he would wake up to the whispers and they wouldn't stop. Luckily graduation was soon and he wouldn't have to worry about falling asleep in class.
Being in this time has become normal for him and he decided to make the most of it by freaking his friends out knowing what would happen next. Jungkook enjoyed knowing what would happen. He passed all of his classes and won every football game. Life was a breeze.
What confused him, however, was Jimin. He never met Jimin before in high school, so why was he all of the sudden knowing him now? He was confused but decided not to dwell on it much longer because he was too focused on coming up with great comebacks to use in their back and forth petty arguments.
He found himself looking up to the next argument in hopes he would win. And he would, most times. Jimin would win others but that's fine. Because he would just do better next time.
His teachers admired the mindset he had so they let the arguments continue, surprisingly.
Today was Jimin's turn to start it. The two shared an unspoken agreement that they would take "turns" starting arguments.
Jungkook stepped into the school when all of the sudden-
Slip
Everything flew out of his backpack and Jimin laughed, walking up to Jungkook with a smirk on his face.
"You know that wouldn't have happened if you kept your bag closed," Jimin put his hands on his hips.
That immediately put Jungkook in a bad mood. His mother couldn't afford to buy him a new backpack, even if his current one had a broken zipper.
"It's not like I have a choice, Park."
"Oh, boo-hoo! Poor mommy can't afford to get a new backpack, let's all have pity over him!"
"That's low, Jimin," one kid said.
"Yeah, even for you. That was really mean."
"Guys, you're supposed to have my back in these things..."
"You took it too far."
Jungkook got up and picked up all his stuff before walking away, tears nearly falling from his eyes. He bit his lip to hold them back, to no avail. He decided to hide in the bathroom and silently cry.
"Jungkook...?" A soft voice was heard from outside his stall. "Are you alright...?"
"Go away, Taehyung..." Jungkook sniffled. He didn't want to talk to anyone, much less to his rival's best friend.
"I-I just wanted to say sorry on his behalf... He didn't mean to hurt you..."
"Oh so you're defending him now? What he said about my mother.. No amount of empty sorries could fix that..." He sniffles and his voice began to break. "It's not her fault that the bastard who was holding up our household had to fucking cheat on her... It's not her fault that no one will hire a single mom... It's not her fault that she can't afford a new backpack for me...! I don't even need it...! I'm p-perfectly fine with my backpack! As long as it can hold my stuff I'll be fine... I'll graduate and get a good job.. I'll buy her a new house and pay all her overdue bills... I'll b-buy everything for her..." At this point he was sobbing.
"Jungkook..-"
"Leave me alone... Please..."
Taehyung sighed. "I also wanted to say that I'm always there for you if you ever need me... Even though my best friend is your rival, I'll still be there for you..." And with that, Taehyung left Jungkook alone.

"How is he, doctor?"
"Well it looks like he won't wake up for another three months or more."
"Oh, God..." Jimin teared up, his heart dropping to his stomach. "Three months..? Is that the soonest...?"
The doctor nodded.
Jimin sighed. "Alright... I um... I guess I should go now..."
"Come back tomorrow, he seems to react more when you're around him."
"Alright. I'll um... I'll keep that in mind, thank you.." And with that, Jimin trudged out without another word.

"Jungkook! Come downstairs, someone is here to see you!" Jungkook's mom hollared up to him.
"I'll be down in a sec!" Jungkook put a shirt on and ran downstairs, then he stopped when he saw who was at the door. "Oh. It's you."
"Be nice, Jungkook."
Jungkook sighed and Jimin bit his lip. "I'm sorry for saying what I said today.. Um.. I hope you can forgive me.."
Jungkook was taken aback by what he was hearing. Park Jimin? Apologising? This had to be a dream. "Uh... Sure... Just um, don't say it again."
"O-Okay.."
"Why don't you stay for dinner, Jimin?" Jungkook's mother smiled sweetly at the boy.
"Mom-"
"I'd love to. Thank you, ma'am."
Jungkook gave his mom the 'are you kidding me?!' look. She just shrugged it off and continued cooking. "What are you looking to do when you graduate, Jimin?"
Jimin played with his fingers. "I wanna be a dancer..." Jungkook could tell Jimin was very uncomfortable but decided to do nothing about it. He deserved the uncomfort.
"That sounds fun. My mother was an amazing dancer; she would have been a great teacher. How many classes do you have with Jungkook?"
"All of them."
"Ugh, I swear, I'm around him too much." Jungkook sighed and sat at the table.
"Well it's not like I wanna be in every class with you either."
Ms. Jeon sighed and placed the food on the table. "My son can be rude sometimes but inside, I know he's a very kind person."
"Mom..." Jungkook sighed.
"What? I'm just telling the truth."
Jimin smiled a bit then immediately frowned again. Jungkook couldn't see him smile at his house. God forbid.
Ms. Jeon served the food and the three of them ate in silence.
"This is delicious, you're an amazing cook!"
"Thank you! You're so sweet. Jungkook you really should be nicer to Jimin, he's very sweet!"
Jungkook just nodded and sighed as he finished his food. "May I be excused? I have a lot of homeowork to do."
"Alright. But don't stay up too late."
"Actually, I have to leave, too. My parents want me home by eight."
"Alright, Jimin. It was nice meeting you! Come back any time!"
Jimin got up and bowed. "Thank you for the meal." He left without another word.
