My graduation speech!
It was the worst day ever, night technically. Apart from the drinks and couples, pretty dresses and dazzling makeup, stunning décor and chit chats, it was the worst night ever.
I was perspiring even in the chilly night of January. Wow teachers, you ruined my best night. Well to some extent it was my fault too, I kind of volunteered. But they pushed me! So don’t judge huh? In the next fifteen minutes, I was to give my graduation speech.
Yes, I was graduating from my school.
But still, the stage fright? I can never help that. Whenever I saw that stage in front of me, I go nuts. It gets on my nerves seriously.
I pretended I didn’t care. But my frowned eyebrows and continuous rubbing of my hands just told my friends I was nervous.
“Don’t worry. Relax. Everything’s going to be fine.”
You don’t know the feeling guys, I thought. Decided not to voice my thoughts as they knew the feeling.
60 seconds left. Last ten seconds. 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.
My name was announced. I was required on the stage. I reluctantly stepped on the stage
I can do it, I consoled myself.
………….And I started.
“Honorable principle, respected teachers and my dear school fellows. Good evening.
This is the night, I dreamed of since I was a kid. Everybody does. It’s the most special night in a student’s life.
The graduation night.This is the time, when we take different turns. The time when we choose our ways, our careers. This is the time, we become practical.
We stop bunking classes, well we make it less. We stop finding short cuts in studies. We start respecting teachers and we do what they say. Well, not exactly.
We groom ourselves.For girls, that’s all about fashion.
For boys, they start becoming responsible. Responsible, not sensible.”
My eyes scanned the ground to see if someone was making fun of me. No one was. They all seemed really interested in whatever I kept saying. And they had a little smile on their face, probably on my last comment.
“What has this school given me? I ask myself. Without even thinking, I get the answers. This school has given me education, manners, and everything to make me bright. It has made me who I am today.
It has showed me some of the world’s extremely respectable teachers. The ones who taught me beyond books. They are the world’s coolest, most awesome and the most epic teachers ever.
I remember them scolding me, putting extra burden on me and well as you can see now, they have pushed me to deliver a speech on this special night. But they are the best. And I can assure you all, I’m gonna miss you. And teachers, you’re gonna miss me too as you can never find anyone who’s argumentative, active, cooperative, stupid and giggle pot as me.”
Everyone laughed at this comment. Phew. I was going well.
“Too much for the school. Now I’m gonna talk about my friends.
All these years, my friends have been an extremely important part of my life. They have really proved that we are a single soul dwelling in each other bodies. They were there when I needed them most. Now they have become the friends whom I’d call and say, hey you know what? They were there to sort all the mess out at my worst times. Now they deserve to be with me at my best times.
My friends, I don’t know if we’re going to be in touch forever, but I’m going to miss you guys a lot!
I know you’re going to miss me too. Well now whose going to buy you pizzas and cokes and chocolates and stuff huh? You’ll feel my absence I’m telling you.”
Everybody felt pretty amused at my speech. I never thought it will all be so good. I hoped I didn’t lose the grip on this perfection.
“Well enough of your patience. It’s time I end this up. Now comes the thanks part.
First of all I would like to thank Google and the inventor of copy paste.”
Everyone laughed. I, too.
“I wouldn’t have been able to give you tremendously splendid presentations if they weren’t there. So a big applause for them.”
Wow, everyone clapped.
“Then thanks to all the faculty members and everyone single person who helped me out. My juniors who respected me and my seniors, of course they are not here as I’m in the senior most so anyway thanks all. It’s been an honor serving and studying with all of you. Thank you.”
It was over and everyone applauded for me. Whistles and appreciations filled up the room. I was so elated. The best speech I had ever delivered! Thumbs up!
