"Hey mate! Wake up!" Ugh! Its so early! Its like-- What time is it?
Reluctantly I got out of bed. Children of Hades are not morning people. I looked over at Percy's bed. He was still out cold but his body was shaking, his skin covered in sweat. Nightmares.
"Percy," I said, walking over to him, shaking him a bit. No response.
"Percy!"
Still no response. I got on the bed and pushed him off.
"PERCY!" I yelled.
He jumped up and had me pinned down, his wand at my throat in seconds. I laughed nervously, thankful it wasn't his sword at my neck.
"Miss your pen don't you?" I tease.
He scowled but then smirked. Out of his pocket he drew a pen. Riptide.
"I still don't see why we had to leave our weapons behind." I grumbled as he got off me.
"Nice pen mate, but don't you use quills?" I'd forgotten we share a room with five other people.
"What's a quill?" Percy asked. This time couldn't help it.
"Kelp head! Its a feather you write with."
"Oh."
"I'll take that as a no then."
I yawned while nodding my head.
"Come here death breath." Percy said in his big brother voice, "I'll give you a ride down the breakfast."
I shook my head. I was over Percy but that didn't mean I was ok with climbing on his back. Furthermore, didn't he just wake up from a nightmare? How is he able to bounce back so quickly? I guess that's just who he is. Percy never lets others see his pain. I continue to struggle to get off his back but sadly he wouldn't take no for an answer. I was too tired to fight back or even complain as we walk down the steps to the commons room. Thalia walked in a little while after us.
"Awe! Is little Nico tired?" She squealed.
"Shut up pinecone face." I managed. I was so close to sleep. I could feel her rolling her eyes.
"Come on its breakfast time."
Percy followed Thalia out if the portrait hole (it was the door to the Griffindor house) and back down into the great hall. When we got there I climbed off Percy and grabbed a piece of toast.
"Wait," Percy said, "how are we going to burn an offering?"
I stopped with my toast halfway to my mouth.
"Um..."
"Here." Thalia brought out a pocket lighter. She burned a piece of bacon. Percy followed suit with his eggs and I, reluctantly, watched as my toast turned to ash.
"What the bloody hell are you doing?" What's his name? Ron?
"Nothing." I said as I grabbed a fresh slice of toast.
"Americans are mental." He muttered under his breath
"We heard that."
"Ron!" Ugh, that Hermione girl gave me a headache. "They just have different cultures than us. Percy, what's your magic? Thalia was telling me about how she inherited magic from her father. Your ancestors perfected elemental magic? That's amazing! I've never heard of a witch or wizard being able to do it. Your school seems a lot different from ours. Do you think we would be able to learn what you learn?"
How can she say all that in one breath?
"Um... Yeah I inherited it from my dad too. I don't think I could teach you, though. I'm not a good teacher."
"Humph. What about you Nico?"
"My dad too, we're cousins but Percy's the most powerful. He can control the liquid in anything."
Hermione gasped.
"Shut up death breath." Percy said it was meant to be teasing but he had a cold look in his eyes.
He didn't like having so much power.
"I will when you stop being so modest, seaweed brain."
"What's with your nicknames?" Harry asked. Before we could answer a ghost came up to me and bowed.
"You highness." He said and then floated away. All the Wizards were staring now but I just rolled my eyes and kept eating.
"Why did the Bloody Baron just bow to you?" A boy with white blonde hair came up to them.
"Go away, Malfoy." Harry warned.
"I wasn't talking to you, Potter." Malfoy turned back to me, "Well, you emo freak? Answer me!"
That boy was dead! Sadly I didn't get to him first. Percy was beating the crap out of him in seconds and Thalia created a wind barrier to stop anyone from interfering.
"Don't mess with my cousin!" He yelled and Thalia struck him with lightning.
I opened the ground up under Malfoy, and he started whimpering.
"Help him up." I said, "He isn't worth it."
Percy looked unhappy about it but he released him. The 3 of us walked out, people cleared a path for us.
"And they haven't even seen Percy using his powers yet." I whispered to Thalia.
"I pity the one who gets him mad enough to use them." She replied.
