I looked down at my hands while finished tinkering with the control panel on our ship.
"I'm like 75% sure that this thing isn't going to explode on us."
"Reassuring." Piper said.
"Uh, I don't like those odds." My older brother Jason piped in.
"I'm doing my best!" I huffed. "Leo only just started teaching me this tech stuff, plus his icy-hot girlfriend managed to do quite the number on this thing." I slammed the panel closed and gave it a smack for good measure. Piper gave me a weird look so I flashed her a thumbs up while Jason rolled his eyes. We all clambered onto our pitiful ship and I gave Jason the all clear to start us up.
He grabbed two jumper cables that connected to a hidden battery and put a little lightning juice into them. Him being the son of Jupiter had its perks, after all. Then the engine hummed to life and I grabbed the controls while Piper did her best trying to keep the windows from slamming open. I scanned the surrounding area from where we had crashed. A nice trail of broken trees was the evidence of our crash-landing. Our temporary camp was also visible- complete with its own dingy, do-it-yourself fire pit. Impressive I know.
Our bad luck seemed to end there -involving the crash- for the moment as Khione, the snow goddess, had either lost interest in us or ~quite literally~ lost us. Looking forward I saw nothing other than a million trees with little lakes scattered about. A river snaked off somewhere in the corner of my eye. Our battle yesterday had left us with a fried communication disk and radio, so frankly I had no clue where we were. Jason had been driving when were attacked, so I didn't know where we had been, but obviously I wasn't going to tell them that.
"Do you know where we need to go?" Piper questioned. "Or where we are?" Jason raised his eyebrows. I gulped.
"...Yeah?"
"Great."
Being daughter of Zeus I was technically supposed to be able to tell our precise location whenever we were in the air, but as of late, it hadn't been working. Well no since Hera hated me even more and Zeus threatened to disown me. Everyone talks about how cool it must be, being a kid of the ruler of the gods, but it means from birth you're guarantied a juicy drama skit with Ms.Hera.
My eyes shifted through the landscape in front of me, hoping to pick out some kind of obvious landmark. Sadly, no such thing showed itself.
"Need some help?" Jason scooted over towards me and pulled out a few pieces of map, laying them out on the floor.
"Fly towards that river there, then follow it." He looked back down and traced his finger along a blue squiggly line.
"Thanks, by the way." I smiled at him.
"No problem. That's what brothers are for right?" I laughed. Piper came over and sat behind him. She looked down and tried to help Jason finish putting the rest of the map together.
"Eventually the river will lead us to the bay, and Percy and the others will be waiting for us here." She pointed to where there was a hole in the map.
"Real clever." I smiled. She and Jason both let out a light laugh.
"She's right." Jason spoke with a gleam of pride in his eyes. I'm glad he and Piper were enjoying each others company again. I kept my eyes on the river and kept flying.
...
Shortly after, Jason and Piper had fallen asleep while I was flying the ship. When it got dark to a certain degree, me and Jason switched out. We figured it was better for the more directionally knowledgeable of the two of us to be flying in the dark. I got out of the drivers seat and went to go sit next to Piper. She rummaged through our remaining back pack and pulled out some beef jerky.
