Will wasn't having a good afternoon so far. He had been mocked yet again by most of his gym class as he had no skills in fencing, he had sprained his ankle since he fell down the stairs on the way to biology class and he was currently being told off by his biology teacher in front of everyone for showing up late.
By this point, he was just plain pissed off.
"But I–," Will's protests were cut off by the annoying droning voice of Mr Stanley Norman
"Enough!" Mr Norman's voice was impatient, "Solace, you've earned yourself a week of detention. I expect you to be on time for our practical on Monday, or else..." The rat-faced looking creep leered at Will, as if he liked causing this torment to Will.
Will muttered some colourful phrases about where Norman could stick his glasses but he decided to hold his tongue and sat down next to the girl with the frizzy red hair.
"What happened this time?" Rachel Elizabeth Dare asked him, smirking slightly but she stopped as she saw Will wince in pain.
"Fell down the stairs. I think I sprained my ankle." Will replied in a low voice. He lowered his voice even more, praying to the gods that Norman wouldn't hear him. "I swear, that man is a sadist. He has it out for me and I don't even know what I've done!"
"Well..." Rachel looked at the blond haired boy sadly, "let's just get through this period and then we can get out of here."

As he walked through the doorway of the cafe, Will breathed a sigh of relief. Demigods and Doughnuts Cafe was probably one of his favourite places to be. It felt like home and in full honesty it more or less was. His dad, Apollo, was always traveling across the country with his bohemian alternative band, "Apollo + The Muses vs Greece" so he wasn't around often. Will didn't mind though. Aside from the fact that he personally thought the lyrics were terrible (due to the fact that the songs were composed of haikus), he actually thought that it was pretty cool for his dad to be in a band.
"Um, are you going to order anything?" Will snapped out of his daze at the sound of the boy's voice.
"Sorry, I, uh..."
The boy in the skull hoodie laughed and it was a beautiful sound, "A lot on your mind, I'm guessing?" Will nodded, a blush appearing on his cheeks, noticing that the raven-haired boy had a slight Italian accent. "I'm Nico di Angelo."
That's a really beautiful name, Will thought to himself
He was wearing dark colours, mainly black and grey aside from the Green Day tee which contrasted with his pale complexion, a huge silver skull ring adorning his right hand.
"William Solace but everyone calls me Will. I'll have a skim cappuccino and some of the chocolate biscuits thanks. By the way," Will pointed at the ring, "That's an awesome ring."
The boy, Nico, smiled and nodded but Will noticed it was slightly stiff, as if the reminder of the ring brought back bad memories. Will noticed, eyes widening slightly, "Sorry, I didn't mean to...rehash anything." Nico was quiet for a moment as he prepared Will's coffee. Finally as he slid the cup and bag of biscuits over, Nico spoke.
"Thank you..." Nico's voice was quiet and melancholy as he spoke, his obsidian eyes sparkling with what Will could have sworn was tears. Nico blinked and looked at the clock behind him, the time was 4:25. He looked apologetically at Will. "Ah. I have to close up in five minutes. Sorry. I hope I see you again soon... William Solace." The way Nico said his name was as if he was trying a new flavour of ice-cream, a different, unknown thing meant to be understood.
"It's alright, I have to go anyway." Will gave a lopsided smile, and waved at Nico before he walked out. As he was walking down the street, he shifted the cup in his hand and saw a phone number hastily scrawled on the cup.
Nico di Angelo, he mused to himself, intrigued, doing his best to commit the phone number to his brain, I'll remember your name...
