I was grateful to Sam for staying on the phone with me for almost two hours that night. After a general catch up and her telling me how great things had been with Pete, she asked me about Nate and that's when I filled her in, "I feel so torn! Nate is amazing in every possible way, but every time I see Liam my hormones go wild" I confessed feeling frustrated for being in this situation. Despite talking about it for a while, ultimately we agreed it was something I had to decide for myself. Either way, someone was going to get hurt and I wasn't looking forward to that.

Nate's POV

Wanting to see Annabeth, I knocked on her door Monday evening, "Nate" she hesitantly said, "surprise" I replied with a grin before wrapping my arms around her and giving her a long kiss, "God I missed those lips" I thought to myself once we pulled away. Closing the door behind me, "you ok cupcake?" I asked getting the feeling that she wasn't as happy to see me as I had hoped. She had a sad look in her eyes, so naturally getting worried, "what's wrong?" I asked and I almost wish I hadn't.

"We can't see each other anymore" her words felt like daggers in my chest, "look I'm sorry, I know I've been coming on a bit too strong and I may seem clingy, but it's only because I really like you" I started to explain myself, assuming that was the problem, "no, God no, Nate you're amazing" she said while taking a step towards me, "and because you're so amazing I can't lead you on and be with you when someone else is also on my mind, it wouldn't be fair on anyone, especially to someone as sweet as you" she said, making my heart drop, "this sucks" I thought out loud with a nervous chuckle, not knowing what else to say. I was starting to fall for this girl and I could see a future together, "I'm really sorry, you deserve so much better" she said with a guilty look and I could tell she meant it, making it harder for me to be mad. With a sigh, "I'm obviously not happy about it, but I appreciate the honesty, bye cupcake" I said with a small smile and before giving her the chance to say anything, I left.
