cabin by the lake

first chapter

It's a perfect day to wake up, the sun is shining so bright, the wind blows. I can feel this weekend is going to be perfect. I start this morning by opening the curtains, going into shower while humming "good time" by owl city. I can't wait to go to adam's cabin. Adam is my boyfriend, joining us this weekend are my best friend Anna and her boyfriend Lucas and Adam's best friend Liam. 5 of us are really close, we spend time from junior high till now. As I dry my hair, I can hear Adam's car going into my driveway. Shit, i'm not ready yet. As I rush doing my makeup,I can hear my doorbell ringing, so I start putting on my shirt and pants and take my suitcase with me and rush downstairs. And in the door waiting for me, adam. His blue eyes still make me blush, after kissing my lips, he said "hi babe, ready for our time in my parent's cabin?" "Yes," I answered with excitement. I know he can see how excited I am. As I walk into the car I can see Anna,Lucas and liam. Anna and Lucas are so affectionate with each other it's like they are living in their own world. As I open the car door, I can hear them greeting me. I don't know who's more excited, me or them. 

As we drive towards midnight creek, I can feel chills in my hands!I'm super excited to spend the first weekend together away from the city and connect with each other and maybe we will finally do it!. Oh God, I'm so nervous I don't even feel the time passing. Anna and Lucas are already asleep during the drive and Liam is still scrolling through his instagram stalking his ex, I feel kinda sad for him. But this weekend is not about her, it's about us spending time together. The cold breeze of wind greets us when we are around 5km away from the cabin. The wood around the cabin looks so green like no human ever went here. As we reach the driveway, I feel like someone is watching us. When I look around, no one's there. We are finally here! after 5 long hours driving from chicago. As we walk to the front door, there it is! They feel like someone is watching us but when I look around, no one's there! I don't like this at all. 

As Adam opens the door, we can see how cool the cabin is, it is made from wood, it has 3 bedrooms, the living room even has a fireplace, it's been years since I ever saw one. Me and Adam enter the main bedroom, the bed is so big, it's twice the size of my bed at home. "U okay?" He asked me, "yeah im fine just a bit exhausted after the trip". "Maybe u should go shower while i organise our stuff". I nodded at him. As I feel the warm water running through my face, I also get this chill as like someone in the bathroom with me. But when I open my eyes, no one is there, I rush to finish my shower, change my clothes and go to the kitchen . When I see the boys are making dinner, it's pasta ala adam. It's nothing fancy, just normal spaghetti with tomato sauce,basil and chili with minced meat, it smells so good my stomach is rumbling so loud it could wake a giant. "Someone's hungry, '' Liam said while chuckling at me. I'm so embarrassed. As Adam split the pasta into 5 plates I can see Anna's coming also from showering in her room with lucas. As we eat, we start to talk about ghosts whether they are real or not, the topic gets heated as Adam doesn't believe in them while the rest think it's a possibility. We finished the dinner, we sat near the fireplace where the fire had already been lit by liam. As we sit there quietly I can feel Adam's head laying on my shoulder. I ask him "are u tired?do u want to go to bed?". He said "yes,please" . We said good night to each other while we walked to our bed. We turn the light off and when we lay under the blanket, Adam starts to kiss me. We kiss for a while but it's clear that Adam is tired so we just cuddle after that. I couldn't shake the feeling of the painting looking at me. But, i'm too tired to care. As I fall asleep I can feel Adam's cuddling me, it's so warm and it makes me feel safe. The next morning I woke up, I opened the window, the air was so crisp, I felt like I breathed for the first time ever. Adam already woke up and in the living room, as I enjoyed the pancake he made for me. I ask him about the painting. He asked "what painting?" I said to the one in our room, "there isn't any there ''. I felt so annoyed, I took his hand and walked to our bedroom on the second floor. When I opened the door, my face went white, there was no painting, there was only a window where I saw the painting.
