A loud drumming sound rang in her ears, and Vanessa felt a splitting headache.

She had been unconscious for a long time, and there was still a white fog in front of her.

Vanessa's thoughts gradually grew farther and farther away.

So, this was the feeling of death?

"Vanessa, wake up!" Someone was calling her name.

Vanessa suddenly opened her eyes, as if she had had a nightmare for a long time. Her entire body was covered in cold sweat.

Only then did Vanessa see her surroundings.

A group of doctors surrounded the hospital bed. They were still holding a notebook to record something.

Doctor John's face suddenly appeared in front of her. "Vanessa, you're awake. How do you feel?" Vanessa moved her lips, but she could not make a sound. She only gently raised her fingertips.

"Don't worry, the anesthetic effect on your body is still there."
John snapped his fingers, "I'm just making sure you're thinking clearly."

Vanessa closed her eyes exhaustively, feeling that she was being played tricks.

"Vanessa, wake up!" An anxious voice rang out.

Kerwin didn't dare to shake Vanessa, so he could only raise the volume.

Vanessa blinked her eyes and expressed that she knew.

She was very tired now and wanted to lie down and rest for a while.

The people in the ward dispersed one after another, giving Vanessa enough time to rest.

Vanessa tilted her head and fell asleep. She did not notice the figure outside the ward.

"Vanessa needs to rest now." Kerwin lowered his voice, afraid of disturbing Vanessa, and warned the man in front of him.

Oswald's expression was still cold, "I won't disturb Vanessa."Oswald's gaze lingered on the weak figure in the ward, and he felt a trace of heartache.

His Vanessa had suffered a lot.

Being enraged by Oswald's attitude, Kerwin took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

"Why aren't you letting her go?" Kerwin gritted his teeth. He pitied Vanessa.

"I'm Vanessa's husband. It's my duty to take care of her." Oswald took it for granted and said,

"We won't bother you about what happened between us husband and wife."Oswald deeply understood Vanessa's sa's physical condition.

He would take good care of Vanessa until he got Vanessa's forgiveness.

After staying in the asepsis ward for a few days, Vanessa was sent to the general ward.

The cancer cells had been suppressed and Vanessa's body was slowly improving.

"Mr. Simon, the annual leave is over. When are you coming back to work? I'll arrange the tickets." The assistant called Oswald and carefully asked about the itinerary.

Oswald, who had always been a workaholic, took an annual vacation this year. It should have been something that made people happy.

But Oswald never went back to work.

This made the assistant anxious.

The documents accumulated in the company had already affected the normal operation.

The things that could be solved by teleconferencing had already been resolved. This batch of contracts was very important. If they were to be delivered to Oswald by express delivery, the logistics would be slow. If the contract was lost, there would be more terrible.

Was the annual leave over? Oswald took a deep look at the calendar and carefully calculated the time.

Unfortunately, he found that he had already spent the entire annual leave abroad.

"Book me a ticket for tomorrow."

He couldn't put the company aside, and even if he didn't want to go back, he had to handle the mountains of work.

..

Ever since Vanessa woke up and learned that the operation had been successful, her mood had always been uneasy.

Oswald's sudden appearance gave Vanessa an expectation.

Since Oswald chased after her from home to abroad, it meant that he did have her in his heart. She has finished the operation and was getting better.

She can also receive some visitors.

Would Oswald appear again? From dark to dawn, she waited for an entire day until she saw the setting sun.

Unintentionally, Vanessa waited for Oswald for a day and night before realizing that Oswald was still the same as before.

He had never taken her to heart, but was just a people to be amused about in his leisure time.

"Vanessa, I brought you fresh millet porridge. I made it specially for you."
Kerwin carried an insulated box and entered the ward.

Her originally dim eyes suddenly lit up, but after seeing the man's figure clearly, she lost her luster again.

He wasn't Oswald.

With a forced smile, Vanessa took the insulation box and took a small sip of the porridge.

"I know you are waiting for him. He has returned home." Kerwin's voice was calm as he told the heartless truth.

Vanessa was momentarily absent—minded. It has become a habit to wait for so many years.

Vanessa knew that Oswald did not like her. She had used despicable means to facilitate their marriage.

Therefore, she had to compensate Oswald, but Oswald took it for granted.

"When did this happen?"

"I'm not sure. I don't know him well. Because of him, I've already lost a job."Kerwin calmly told the truth.

Oswald's personality was domineering, he could not allow others, especially men, to appear beside Vanessa.

Kerwin was fiercely taught a lesson. After being kicked out of the rented house, the leader in the hospital also talked to him.

Oswald asked him to scram out of the city.
