Day 1: His Departure

I waved at him and wished him luck as he said goodbye to me. He will now board the Crewmermaid and he will be gone for 12 years as part of NASA's first space mission to Planet 000xx.

Scientists has discovered a cure for the virus that has circulated the Earth but the platinum group metals needs to be transported from the space hence this mission was launched. My boyfriend is an astronaut and is a great one, and was picked as one of the many who will join this mission.

It's actually a 12 day mission but there aren't really ' days ' in space, but we were told its a 1 day, 1 year ratio. They will never age a day due to time dilation. There are risks, there will always be risks, that's why I'm trembling with fear the day he announced he will be one of those who will join the mission. If they can't return to Planet Earth after 12 days, Crewmermaid will explode and all of their bodies will be lost in space. But they are pretty confident that this mission will be a success.

I gave him a small picture of us before he boarded Crewmermaid, he smiled as he placed it inside his pocket. " Don't be lonely while I'm gone, i will always be here" pointing to my heart.

I burst out crying because i can't contain the pain anymore. I have all these worries and fears.

" Please be strong for us, hey?" He raised his pinky and i did the same.

I went home and spent the whole day in bed, mostly crying. My family and friends are all calling but i decided not to answer their calls. I just want to be alone for now.

There is a framed picture of him beside our bed and i held it as i traced my fingers on his face. " Come back to me " i whispered as i sobbed. I buried myself under my comforter and slept the entire day.
