How do you say goodbye to someone you don't know?
To someone you loved, who never came home?
How do you say goodbye, when goodbyes were to just let go?

How do you let go of guilt and despair,
for a person you cared for,
who never truly was there.
How do you let go when you had no chance,
to speak your mind,
to forgive and forget?

I don't think you can,
now that they're gone.
You simply live with the fact that you have to move on.
You live with the guilt,
the longing,
the pain.
You can't say goodbye to a love in vain.
