Emma's POV:
You opened your eyes from the darkness you had been consumed by. Your eyes were wide and sprinting from side to side as you struggled to recognize where you were, but you didn't. You tried to sit up, but the very instant you tried to prop yourself up on your elbows you felt light-headed and slumped back down. "Where...?" you mumbled. You heard a familiar voice squeal, "Emma!? Oh, thank God!" Your eyes darted to your left to see Victoria standing by the bed, her hands covering her mouth. She had been crying. Then it hit you.
Slowly you began remembering the events that occured before you blacked out. Her, that girl, reminding the world that she was better than you. The grief, the self-pity, the self-harm... The darkness. It sent shivers down your spine just remembering those things. You slowly turned your head to face Victoria, and you managed a weak smile when you saw her. "Where am I?" you asked. Victoria was smiling widely and crying. She then said, "You're in the hospital, hon." She collapsed to her knees and hid her face in the hospital bed, "I- I thought I'd lost you." You put your hand on her head, and weakly said, "Its okay."
Victoria's head shot up and she stared at you through her tears, "No, it's not okay. You nearly killed yourself!" You looked up and sighed. You then faced her again and said, "How long was I out?" Victoria wiped away her tears and said, "You were unresponsive for hours! And they said they wouldn't let you go for a day or two, just to make sure your 'stable'." You rolled your eyes, "So they think I'm some kind of suicidal maniac now?" to which Victoria replied, "You kind of are!"
Then your heart sank. "Victoria, what about the tickets?" Victoria looked at you like you were crazy, "Is that really what you're worried about right now?! You could have DIED." You looked down, "But, those tickets were our opportunity.. our chance, we could have brought the fanfics to life!" you whined. Victoria sighed, and almost laughed a little, "You just don't get it do you? That's the least of our concerns, you have to get better."
Your heart sank further, but Victoria smiled, "You know I'm still getting those tickets. We are going to that concert. As soon as you're out of here, we're going to do nothing but prepare for the concert." She looked at the clock. It was nearly 5. "Well, I'll come back and see you tomorrow. I've got soem tickets to buy." She winked, then headed out the room.
Victoria's POV:
You didn't want to leave her alone. As soon as you stepped out of the hospital room the tears began pouring from your eyes. "How could you let this happen to your best friend, you idiot?" you asked yourself. You walked quickly down this hallway and through the lobby. You got in your car and began your ride home. You had to get those tickets for Emma. When you arrived home you instantly hopped on the computer and pulled up the website that was selling the tickets. They'd go on sale in five minutes. You typed in all your credit card information and the quantity of tickets you needed. You moused over the huge green button and prepared yourself to click it the very second it flashed.
These were easily the longest five minutes of your life. Soon enough, the green button began flashing and you instantaneously clicked it. The screen loaded a little bit and then it said, "Thank you! Your tickets will be delived to you within the next two days!" You jumped up and down and squealed, then the excitment soon died down. The celebrating wasn't as fun with Emma not there. You felt awful, knowing you were at your home and she was in that lonely hosiptal room. And you couldn't help but feel like you could have stopped her from being in the situation she was in now.
You could have stopped her. Why didn't you?
