Two weeks had passed since May woke up in the village of the merfolks. She had mastered the art of slipping into water quietly but still not as graceful as the merfolks. Her stay with Riang was a joyful one. She returned to her cheerful self as if learning a part of what she is never caused her to be depressed. Riang also corrected May's vision. Some mer-kids found the glasses and played with it the day after she woke up. By the time May saw it, the glasses had broken into four pieces. She had to explain how her vision loss and glasses worked for the merfolks to finally understand what May was talking about. They had always corrected visions with their healing abilities, thus no glasses were ever needed.

"You are sure you're ready to leave? You can stay with us for a bit longer," Queen Web anxiously offered. "It is not safe for you to travel right now. Word of you being here has spread far and wide. Many will want you for various reasons, dear child."

May looked at the king and queen before looking at Riang who also had the same worried look. "I think it is time. I need to travel and see what this world has. I enjoyed my time here and I greatly appreciated you guys taking me in and teaching me many things here." May bowed. "I would also feel terrible if your village got attacked by someone because of me."

The king only shook his head. "My village can take care of themselves but very well. At the very least, we shall have a feast tonight. Eat and rest up and then be on your way tomorrow. I'll have Momar show you the way out."

"What?! I don't wanna show her anything! Have Riang do it!" Momar complained.

"As the next heir in line, son, you will be respectful to all your guests and show them out!" King Sei sternly told his son.

"Fine. Whatever." Momar murmured under his breath.

The king and queen silently disapproved Momar's manners.

"He will grow into a fine king one day. He just needs to learn his manners as a king and not a boy," May chuckled. Momar's face flushed red.

"Whatever! I'm going to practice now!" He quickly left.

"That son of ours... Who raised him to be like this?" King Sei sighed, shaking his head.

Riang smiled big, "You-".

"Don't say a word. You're the older sister and you know better than to say that," the king pointed at his daughter who was holding her laughs back so hard so was snorting.

May smiled at the family in envy. 'I shouldn't break this peace.'

After a few moments passed, the queen's happy face turned serious. "Ahem, back to business." All smiles left everyone's faces. "Your true lineage, dear child, is a frightening one. If you are truly a descendant from the ancient bloodline, things will get very bad indeed for you. You are not an orphan, correct?"

May nodded. "Far as I know. I look very much like them and similar to my siblings."

"If that is true, your family will be in danger as well. But I have not heard word that other humans are being targeted. Especially those close to you," the king said. "If our intel is correct, you are living with a foster family most similar to your birth family. Whether they know your true lineage or not will be for you to find out."

May shivered at the thought of not really being family with the only family she knew. There were no papers indicating she wasn't her parents' daughter. The birth certificate had a different father but her mother had remarried twice and her older siblings shared the same father.

"The only way we can know for sure is if I return to the human world and confirm with my parents. Only they would know or the doctors who blocked my memories. If I can get to a portal..." May thought out loud.
