After marinette's parents die in a fire she is sent to an orphanage. From there mari is adopted by the mayor because Chloe wanted a sister her age and she had to be beautiful.

It had been two years since mari was in the orphanage. She was 19 years old. One day Dussu got a note that the mayor and his wife Mrs. Audrey Bourgeois world famous fashion designer were coming to her orphanage to adopt a girl. Lady dussu never told the children whenever someone was coming to adopt them because she wanted them to be chosen by their behaviour and personality because if they know they would act their best. Lady dussu went downstairs and called everyone and said that she had a friend coming over. Everybody knew what this meant. They got into cleaning doing their best to do all the work as fast as they could and then empty the living room for the Lady dussu and their imaginary friend and went to their dorms and continued with their behaviour and work. Mrs. and Mr. Bourgeois enter inside.
They eat the food. They were impressed by the food. They asked lady dussu where did she get this food from. Lady dussu replied "This is made by the kids.". The couple were very impressed. Lady dussu then took the couple to observe every 19 aged girl. In the last they observed tikki and marinette's room. They heard their conversation. Marinette sighed and said "Yeah! I sometimes wish that at least I could had spend some time with bridgette! Ok! So let's get over it and tell me how do you like these!". Tikki sighed, she knew she was ignoring the feelings but nonetheless she saw the designs and was left baffled. She was sure these were one of marinette's most amazing desings. Tikki liked the red one the most. It was a frock. It's lower skirt part looked like delicate ruby colour petals. The top part was black mixed with faded ruby red. It was as if the black colour was paint and someone added red colour into it. The red colour shaped many leaves randomly on the top. Then a sleeve which looked like black vines was there.
She absolutely adored it. Tikki then said "Wow! I love this ruby red frock most!". Mari said "I know! I was inspired by your hair and ladybugs.". Tikki stared at her shocked "M-me?". "Yes" mari replied. She continued "I was also inspired by Lady Dussu's hair and appearance and peacocks. Here! Look at this one." It was a gown. The front part was higher while the behind part was longer. The gown part was kinda looking like feathers decorated with purple, pink and blue rine stones. The gown part was in two colours- Pinkish purple and deep ocean blue. The upper part was a baby blue with ocean blue coloured sleeveless halter top.(These are some of my designs I just created in my mind and wrote it down)
"Wow!" Was the only thing tikki could says. Mari giggles and says "Close your mouth or you'll catch flies!". Tikki closed her mouth and said "Wow! Mari you really have outdone yourself! I love it! If bridgette was here - Oh no! I am so sorry!". She regretted what she said and saw mari crying. She hugged her. She then said "Should I take your hair out?". Mari nodded. Tikki took out her bandana and let her long luscious locks free. Her hair had kinda became curly because she would nearly never take her hair out of her messy bun. She cried and cried on tikki's shoulder. Tikki stroked her hair saying "Shh! Let it all out!". She fell asleep on tikki's lap. Tikki happily smiled and continued stroking her hair. After a while she fell asleep.
The couple and lady dussu were seeing this all. They proceeded downstairs. When they reached there Audrey asked "Who were those two girls? They are the most beautiful girls I have ever seen beside Chloe of course. I have never seen such types of hair beside Chloe too because she has gotten a neon blonde colour.". Lady dussu smiled. People said that lady dussu is very wise. She said "I know. Those girls have gotten through a lot. Those both have an interesting and dark past. Please be seated on the sofa. I will bring some tea". She got some tea and sat down on a arm chair. She explained both of the girls story. The couple listened very carefully to the story.
The couple were really sad about both of them. Andre said "Those girls are really special! We will come tomorrow too and observe them." Lady dussu nodded. The next day everyone woke up excited because it was hair and dye day. This day comes every month. All the orphanage kids go to mari and trimm, dye, cut their hair. She really was good at hairstyling. Today mari was wearing

Her hair in a bun.(She is not wearing the glasses but is wearing the headphones). The first girl enetered. "Hi emily!". The girl had blue eyes with shaggy blonde hair.(Audrey and Andre had already started spying on them)"Hi mari!" The girl replied. She sat down on the chair. Mari put her headphones on her neck asking "So what do you want?". Emily replies "Just straighten up my hair with blue highlights!". Mari didn't like the idea and said "No! That is not hood! Let me do something for ya!". She starts dyeing her hair then cuts it and let's it dry.
After a 15 long minutes she is done. She blows dry her hair for one last check. She then shows her reflection in the mirror. Mari had cut bangs with her hair in soft curls with pink ends. "Wow! Mari I love it! Bye!" Emily says and goes out. Mari put on her head phones and cleans her hair. Next comes in plagg. "Hey kid!". Mari huffs and put her headphone on her neck and says "How many times have I told you plagg! Don't call us kids! We are the same age for God's sake!"."Whatever!" Plagg replies. He sits down on the chair. Mari does his usual for each month. She trims his hair and washes it. "Thanks!" Plagg says.
Mari replies "Anything for my brother in law!". Plagg turns red and says "You know!". Mari says "Yeah! I know! But I approve you and tikki together! Don't underestimate cupid which is me!". They both giggle. Plagg then goes. The half of the day went by and mari had finished doing everyone's hair. She went downstairs to have lunch. Tiki entered the small dining hall with juice. She sees marinette and give her a cold glass of juice "Here! Half the day already went by!". Mari giggles and takes the juice and says "Yeah! When you are doing something time goes by very fast!". Audrey and Andre were very impressed by the girls skills. Tikki then said "I know! Can I do your hair! Pretty please!". Marinette's eyes widen and she shakes her head "Nope! I had already explained you. I don't like my hair open. I like it in a simple messy bun with my bandana.". Tikki sighs. It is rare to find marinette's hair open.
They all have lunch. Mari stands up and says "Smaller kids go up in the study roo.. Today Genova is going to teach you. Boys above 15 will go to the common boys dorm and study by themselves and if you need anything or help come to me or plagg. All the girls above 15 will go to the living room and study with lady dussu. Plagg and genova if you need any help or something call me! C'mon keep your dishes there. It is study time till 3 pm today!". Everyone groans hearing this. The couple were getting so impressed. Even in an orphanage they studied. They had decided that they will adopt marinette.
Next day, the couple came to the orphanage to adopt marinette. They went to the orphanage. The kids were really happy that they had a guest. They hold their fingers and show them around. The bigger kids were in the living room discussing what do about the smaller kids when they grow up and give them perfect education as much as they can. The kids enter the living room with the couple. Mari and some other kids instantly recognize them. They stand up immediately and says "Hello! It's nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Bourgeois." Audrey giggles and says "No need for formality! There is a really beautiful and cheerful aura here.". They than tall for a while. Mari gets a little attached to the couple. Lady dussu enters the living room.
They than discuss on adopting marinette. Mari agrees even if she doesn't want to leave the orphanage. Mari was about to leave until, she was tackled to the ground by whole of orphanage. She cries happy tears and says "Oh you guys! I will come her every month for Hair and dye and sometimes like that to visit you.". She kisses the cheeks of all the smaller kids. And then giving advices and compliments to the bigger boys and girls to go for their crushes. They all laughed when somebody got red. She then reached plagg. She kissed his cheek and said loudly "Take care of Tikki for me! Annnnnddd go get her tiger!". Everybody laughed at the couple's red faces. She then goes to tikki who was crying. She hugs her and kisses her forehead. She then bids them god bye and sits in the car. This was a new life for marinette
