"Life would never be easy for someone like me." Thought Jaehyun, the royal prince of Alua as he walked down the long corridor of the white castle accompanied by his bodyguards and his right hand assistant.
It was a beautiful evening. The castle, filled with high class guests, seemed livelier than ever. The pristine white marble walls and antique golden decorations, which had been carefully polished by the maids all week, shined and glowed under the huge chandeliers, giving the castle an almost magical aura.
Prince Jaehyun being an art enthusiast, would've stopped, even if for mere seconds, to admire the paintings of the royal family of Neolania on the walls, painted by the most famous artists of the nation. But today was not the time. He was so focused on clearing his messy thoughts that he could even barely hear the loud click-clacking sound of his thousand dollar shoes on the floor.
He had been to the white castle before. This place brought so many memories back to him. Memories he would rather forget; it would be much easier for everyone that way. Well, at least for Prince Taeyong and him.
He and Prince Taeyong, the son of King and Queen of Neolania and the elder brother of Princess Taehwa, had had quite a few interactions during their childhood and early teens, though all very brief. Of course this was to be expected. Their nations happened to be neighboring lands and the pair as the eldest princes of the royal family had naturally met many times before. But saying they had ever gone past small talk would be an over statement.
Or that's what everyone thought.
The two princes had had a secret interaction back in their late teens. One which not a soul knew about. One that Jaehyun had tried to forget up to this very day. Needless to say, all his efforts to deliberately delete that part of his memory had failed. He vividly remembered witnessing Prince Taeyong in his true form.
"Are you feeling alright, your highness?" His assistant, Johnny's voice brought him back to reality. He took a deep breath and answered "I'm fine. We're not late, are we?"
"Of course not. It's better for your highness to be fashionably late as the main guest of the evening." Said Johnny. Jaeyhun wished the bodyguards weren't there so Johnny could drop the ridiculous formalities.
"Have mother and father already arrived?" Asked Jaehyun as they hurried up a flight of stairs towards the main ballroom.
"Yes they have. I believe you're the last guest to show up, your highness." said Johnny with a big smile. He was secretly enjoying seeing the usually calm and collected prince so anxious.
Jaehyun just nodded and didn't say a thing. As they arrived at the carved marble doors of the ballroom, he took a few more deep breaths. "I've got this." He thought to himself as he relaxed his tense muscles and gained more control over himself.
With a relaxed composure and a smile that could fool anybody into thinking he was the most confident man in the room, he stepped in; ready to meet Princess Taehwa, his future wife, for the first time in 10 years.
