"How have you been Jaehyun? It's been a long time since you last visited the castle!"
"Everything's been going great, thanks for the hospitality your majesty."
The queen of Neolaina was as kind as Jaehyun had remembered. She used to always greet him and his brothers with the warmest smile when they came to their castle as kids. Though much older than those days in the past, her facial features had remained as sharp as ever and her eyes had the same lively sparkle that she had passed on to Taeyong.
"The Jung family are always welcome here." Said the queen with another one of her kind motherly smiles. "Why don't you two chat together for a bit?"
This was directed at princess Taehwa and Jaehyun, the main reasons why this fancy party was planned in the first place. Both the Aulain and the Neolanian royal families agreed that a closer bond between the two countries would be beneficial for their nations. And the best way to achieve that was apparently to have their off springs get married.
Not that Jaehyun was particularly against this. Princess Taehwa was an amazing and gorgeous lady, but he'd like to at least have a say in choosing his future spouse. He had always been good at following the rules set for him, but this one was going too far.
"You look stunning tonight princess." Complimented Jaehyun. After all these years he was extremely skilled at keeping up appearances.
"Thank you very much. You look handsome yourself." Said Taehwa with her usual adorable smile on her lips.
"Well, may I have this dance, my lady?"
"Yes please." Said Taehwa as she laid her hand in Jaehyun's.
The pair skillfully waltzed in the crowded ballroom, stealing all the attention. Eyes seemed to be glued to the pair who soon were to change the future of their motherlands for the better.
As they circled under the crystal chandeliers and the high painted dome, Jaehyun wondered where each of them would rather be at the moment. At least he knew his answer very well; anywhere but here. Away from all the eyes silently putting pressure on them. From all the expectations, all his responsibilities. Somewhere he didn't have to fake laughs and smiles anymore.
"Prince Jaehyun, can you take me on a walk in the garden?"
The sudden request from Taehwa shocked Jaehyun for a split second before he realized she was probably feeling the same way as him.
"Of course. This place is too noisy."
"Exactly, I can't stand it." Said Taehwa with a slight shake of her head and a little giggle.
Jaehyun thanked her for the dance and both of them bowed. Then the pair tried to sneak through the crowd and out of the room without anyone noticing. They failed of course, but nobody seemed to have any objections to the two of them having alone time together since having them get closer was the main point of this whole ceremony.
