in which josh's upcoming album has stirred up a lot of news, particularly about his love life more than ever. and someone that had to deal with it was you, his personal assistant.

the press believed you two were secretly dating after his public breakup, however you found it laughable to date him. you guys were best friends turned colleagues - nothing more. however, josh was more than game to play it up for the cameras.

but what happens when you both see how playing into this gossip could benefit his album release. and what happens when faking it becomes a bit too easy for you...which then makes everything else harder?

he never really gave me tasks to do on his days off, in fact he would just ask for me to be around in case anything out of the ordinary happened. he still found it weird to this day to have someone working for him. hence, he just asked me to get us some coffees before coming to his apartment to say 'howdy': another day of being joshua bassett's personal assistant.

however the part of the job i never really expected to happen, approached me the second i walked out of my local barista.

"hey y/n, how's it going?" a guy with a camera propped up on his shoulder asked. i gave a toothy smile that probably oozed of discomfort, but i gave it anyway.

'the hollywood fix' - those dudes that were currently known to film and follow internet celebrities - were now following josh and other rising stars for when their new albums were coming out. josh's singles were blowing up on tiktok in fact, and he had become more of a household name than ever with his album release coming up soon.

that was all expected with my gig, but what wasn't part of the deal was the paparazzi following me...because the internet was conspiring that i was dating the guy.

"i'm going good thank you," i replied simply. i was already trying to quicken my pace and avoid eye contact - for crying out loud i was bare-face with my hair in a side-ponytail and wearing crocs...yes i still wear crocs. i was not ready to be filmed today. however this was the second time this was happening, but the first time they were talking to josh on his way from this exact barista and the camera guys suddenly panned to me to ask how i became his assistant.

a simple story really, i was friends with him before i ever started working for him. i was an intern at warner records - you know the type who just got coffees for the big leagues - and i just saw him waiting for said bosses in a lobby and i said 'howdy'. now he won't let me greet him in any other way except 'howdy.' and i was at every session since.

we were joined at the hip but the next thing i knew i was shipped off to be his p.a. - i happily obliged since the pay was better. he needed me since apparently he was going to be a big name and needed help keeping track of all of his upcoming gigs when on press junkets, on sets etc.
