I slowly sat down at the desk and opened up the silver laptop sitting on the smooth white surface.

Please.

Each key that I pressed made my heart pound louder, to the point where it was the only thing I could hear. The beats echoed within me as I pressed enter and the page started to load. After the article popped up, I knew I'd searched the right name, I just needed to see the picture.

Please. Please, come on.

I gripped the sides of the laptop, the color draining from my knuckles. I could hear footsteps pounding down the hallway. My mother. Or... what I'd thought to be my mother? I was unsure.

LOAD! LOAD YOU STUPID PICTURE!

The door opened with a crash, slamming against the desk.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" She slammed the laptop shut and glared at me, her deep blue eyes boring into mine. The eyes that had never loved me, the eyes that pretended for 15 years. "Stay. Out. Of my. Room."

But she was too late.

I had seen it.

I knew.

And now, she couldn't stop me.

No matter how hard she tried.
