⠀⠀⠀GRIEF WAS SOMETHING THAT ARIETTA QUERO had known from a very young age. Losing her parents at the age of nine to a tragic fire accident while she was on a summer camp had forced her to go back home to adjust to a new life where her parents weren't in it.
Fortunately, her paternal grandmother —Etta, was able to take her in. Raising her into such a beautiful strong woman who taught her about the high and low about life itself. But of course, something good never lasted forever, Etta passed away four years later to cancer. Her last wish was to make sure that Arietta would always keep her head high, even at her lowest point in life- just to get back at life for being such a bitch.
⠀⠀⠀FRANCO CARDILLO HAD BEEN THERE FOR Arietta since day one, side by side every step of the way. He always put her needs before his, making sure she's alright all the time.
When they found out about her parents' death, he asked the committee of the summer camp to let him come home with her. Cried when he thought she was going to die from hemorrhages when she got her first period. Even went as far as begged his parents to adopt her after they lost Etta, so she won't move to Cuban with her family from her mother's side.
Both of them knew that they were soulmates, in love with one another, and will eventually grow old together as lovers. And that scared Arietta, but take it from the girl who had lost everything- don't take anything for granted.
So at the age of sixteen after all of their friends and family rooting for them, they finally made the relationship official — though they both know that it had been official since the first time they held hands at the age of six. But still, they were probably the happiest unproblematic couple in Mystic Falls. Remain on being so young and naive inside their fantasy of happily ever after.
Until one supposed to be serene night turned into a tragedy where Arietta had once again lost everything.
The same night she was miraculously gifted with something that she'd soon found as one of the best things she had in her life.
