Kim woke up her head pounding as she moves to sit up, her brown irises glide around the room. She was not totally sure where she was, she ran a hand through her hair taking in the fact when she glances down, she was only being covered by a sheet. 'Where the hell am I?' She thought as she pushes her legs over to the edge of the bed. Placing her feet on the cold hard wood floor, it sent a shiver up her body causing her to let out a small gasp. Moving to get dressed, she glances around the room once more now that she was more awake. She looked at the pictures on the dresser and her heart began to hammer louder in her ears. She was in one of her co workers houses, as she glances at all the photos of the intelligence team. Her eyes dart to the door as she hears footsteps coming towards her, she was terrified, as her gaze zeros in on her shirt. The person behind the door pushes it open, as Kim's eyes land on her one night stand her eyes widen. 'Holy shit. This is not good,' she thought to herself as the man came in only wearing a pair of boxers and two cups of coffee in his hands. Kim let her eyes linger on the hem of his boxers, her eyes gliding up his toned stomach and his abs. Kim felt her breath catch as she let her eyes land on the mans face, freckles that led up the base of his neck up to the stubble on his jawline. Soon her eyes connected with crystal blue irises, his expression was one of concern and a hint of guilt.
"I uh, brought you some coffee. It's fresh," Jay's voice says catching as his eyes ran quickly up and down Kim's half naked body.
He held the steaming cup out to Kim, who took it with shaking hands, "Thanks, Jay. Um what exactly happened last night?"
"You and I were at Molly's, we had a few drinks," Jay says shifting as the tension in the room grew thicker than it had been, "Maybe we had to many. The night for me is coming back in bits and pieces."
"How much did we have to drink? I can usually hold my own and still remember what happened," Kim says as she takes a sip of the coffee before placing it on Jay's dresser, she moves to pick up her shirt that was holding the door from opening all the way.
"I think we had a couple of shots at the bar, maybe even a beer or two," Jay says looking at Kim as she pulls her shirt over her head, "But I think we came back here and finished off my half bottle of tequila I had in my fridge. Because the bottle is on my counter empty."
Kim rubs her temples as her head pounds once more, swaying slightly side to side as she takes all the information in that Jay was giving her. Jay put his own coffee on the far side of his dresser, as he walked over picking out a pair of jeans from his closet along with a grey t-shirt. As he dressed, he could feel Kim's eyes on him. He turns so that he can look at her, her face was a nice shade of pale it almost had a light tent of green to it.
"Bathroom is across the hall if you need it," he tells her, Kim nods slightly reaching for her cup of coffee taking another sip gingerly, "I have some Ibuprofen in the medicine cabinet above the sink too."
"Thanks," Kim says as she walks out of the bedroom, heading straight into the bathroom.
She normally could hold her liquor. She felt her stomach turn, maybe it was the shots combined with the beer and tequila that was setting her off, as she sat on the bathroom floor. Kim was not sure if she was going to be sick from the alcohol or the fact that she had hooked up with Jay Halstead. Her friend someone who if she had to admit to herself, she looked up to him. He was a great detective; she also knew he had a thing for Hailey Upton or so she thought. Once her stomach had decided to keep down her liquor, she stood swaying slightly as she went to get the bottle of Advil that Jay had told her about. When she opened the door, she found a worried face Jay standing on the other side of the door with her cup of coffee.
"You okay?" he asks his voice had a slight hint of nervousness to it, "You can stay here as long as you need."
After that one-night Kim and Jay had decided, they would not talk about what happened between them. They both were going to act like they never slept together, as they head to breach a house Jay and Kim were teamed up. Kim and Jay were always professional when on the job, but this time Kevin and Hailey were picking up on something. After they had breached the house, it was a free for all, shots were being fired in every direction. Jay was the first to enter and then Kim, the minute the shots began to fire, Jay had Kim pushed against the wall by the door his arm held out as he returned fire. Kim's arms had a knee-jerk reaction as they wrapped around his waist her gun hitting his back, Kim's breath caught in her throat as she held onto Jay.
"Offender down," Jay heard Adam say loud and clear as the shots stopped all together.
Jay slowly lowers his weapon glancing down at Kim in his arms, she was shaking slightly which was unlike her. Kim glances up at Jay her breath still caught in her throat. Her hands slowly relax as they release Jay's body from her grasp, her eyes moving to scan the room. Hank walks in his gun raised walking past the team that was still in the entryway.
"Living room's clear," Hank says glancing at Jay and Kim, "Halstead, Burgess clear the second floor."
Jay nods moving to raise his weapon once more, walking up the steps slowly, Kim follows instep with Jay her weapon held out in front of her. Once the whole house was cleared and the medical examiner was on scene, Hank told Hailey, Kevin, Jay and Kim to head back to the district. Jay heads to his truck, Kim following. As Kim enters the passenger side of the car, Jay glances at her he needed to make sure that she was truly okay.
"You sure that you are okay?" Jay asks placing the truck into gear, as he begins driving down the road leaving the crime scene, "I just want to make sure I did not hurt you when I pushed you against the wall."
"I'm fine Jay," Kim says reaching out taking his hand off the gear shift, as she squeezes it, "I told you when we were upstairs alone that I was perfectly fine."
"It's just after everything we went through a couple weeks ago," Jay says pulling Kim's hand up to his lips as he presses a gentle kiss on her knuckles, "I don't want anything happening to you Burgess."
"Nothing is going to happen to me Halstead," Kim says pulling his hand slightly returning the gesture that Jay had just done to her, "So much for this being just a one-time thing huh?"
"Yeah," Jay says a smirk appearing on his face, "So my place or yours?"
"How about my place for a change. Not that I do not like your place," Kim says playing with Jay's fingers as he got closer to the district, "My place is just a little bit further from here. I want to enjoy our morning after tomorrow since it is going to be a Saturday."
"Oh I see how it is," Jay says letting out a laugh as he pulls into a parking spot slowly releasing his grip on Kim's hand, "You want to be far enough away from the district so no one sees my truck, next to your car."
"Exactly," Kim says letting out a giggle as she unbuckles herself from the passenger seat, she raises her brow as she watches Jay glance around, "Jay..."
Jay did not respond to her, as he unbuckles his seat. His hand finds her waist as he pulls her across the center console of the truck, Kim let out a small gasp as her hands move to Jay's shoulders gripping them tightly. Were they really going to expose their relationship right now? They were in the middle of the district parking lot and their partners were a few minutes behind them. Jay's left hand moves up to cup Kim's face as he gently runs his thumb up and down her cheek his lips part.
"We shouldn't..." Kim says her breath catching as Jay leans in his lips capturing hers, as Jay's hand moves from Kim's cheek to circle around her waist with his other hand, he feels Kim give in.
As the couple's lips move together in time with one another, Kim's hands grip Jay's vest pulling at it. As they pull away Jay squeezes Kim's waist a smile spreading across his face, "What were you saying?"
Kim shook her head as she moves to place a small peck on his lips, as she turns to get out the truck her eyes widening, "Fuck," she whispers loud enough for Jay to hear who glances at her and then sees out the window.
A very shocked Hailey and Kevin were standing outside of their car that they had parked beside Jay's truck. Kim's face flushed pink as she looks at her boyfriend who just pulls a small smirk. They were caught, there was no hiding it any longer, as Jay opens his car door, he nudges Kim with his hand pushing her forward slightly.
"I guess our little secret is out," Jay says to Kim once she was out of the car and they were both facing Kevin along with Hailey.
"When did this happen?" Hailey asks trying to hide the shock from her voice.
Kim glances at Jay who nods, "It happened about three months ago," Kim explains as she moves slightly, "Jay and I ran into each other at Molly's, it was last call. We had a few beers and then went to his place to finish off a bottle of tequila."
"It was supposed to be a one-time thing," Jay says looking at Kim, his hand touching her shoulder, "But, we've been together since that night. The only person who knows is Hank since he is our boss. Now you both know, so I would appreciate if you did not say anything to the rest of the team."
