He broke my heart. That's all I can think about. The boy who was slowly piecing my heart back together, completely destroyed it. And I have no idea why.

I guess in order for anyone to understand these crazy ramblings, I should start from the beginning.

The first time I met him, I mean really met him was a rainy Friday night- no wait. I need to go farther back. I need to explain the back story. I'm always jumping right in.

Right. Now it really began in seventh grade when I moved to this God awful town. Don't get me wrong, I love it now, but this isn't exactly where people want to live. The academics are super low, and when you get to the bad side of town (which is almost everywhere), it's really bad. But my mother and I fell in love with the house as soon as we saw a glimpse of it. So we moved as soon as school let out, and spent the summer fixing it up to our tastes.

When I finally started seventh grade, I became friends with the first person I met. She was crass and rude and quite frankly bitchy, but I needed a friend and she was the first person I met. Her name is Brittany, and she's my best friend even though I regret it sometimes.

Anyways, I got through all of seventh grade in this school practically unscathed (a minor bruising when my first boyfriend broke up with me, but I got over it and eventually got a second). Eighth grade started off with a bang! A cute guy was now interested me, and I was way interested in him back. He was my boyfriend for nearly two months when he suddenly just dumped me. I was crushed.

Normal girls might not have been as hurt, but see this kid, Brandon, he'd told me that he loved me. And I had no idea what it was like to be loved by a male- remember I said it was just me and mom? That's how it had always been. So anyways, being dumped after being told I was loved was crushing and I was still hurting when I started high school.

That's when Nathan entered my life. Everyone knew Nathan, he was super sweet and everyone seemed to love him. However, every time he saw me all he seemed to do was flick me off. I had no idea why, he just did. I tried to ignore it as best I could because I was still trying to mend my broken heart, but this rudeness towards me was nagging at my brain somewhere deep in the back.

Anyways, on the Friday of our very frat homecoming game as high schoolers, Brittany announced to me that we were going to the game.

"What?" I asked, looking at her like she was crazy. I had intended on staying in my bed all night as reading sappy love stories.

"We're going to the football game! Philip is going and he invited me to go along so we're going" Brittany said, grinning at me. Philip was her latest boyfriend, and she was currently over the moon about him.

"He invited you, that has nothing to do with me." I answered, shutting my locker and glaring at her a little.

"Come on. You're my best friend, do me a solid, Manda." She pleaded, looking at me with wide eyes.

I sighed and she took that as me giving in, "GREAT! I'll get my mom to pick you up beforehand, and then you can sleepover!" she spoke this all very quickly, dashing away before I could object to anything she had said.

I groaned, turning around heading towards my last class of the day. Nathan was standing outside of the room with a super annoying kid, Sean. When Nathan saw me he grinned before flicking me off. I simply rolled my eyes at him before continuing into the classroom.

The class passed in the slow way that all high school classes do, and finally at two o'clock the bell rang and class was dismissed. I could have ridden the bus, but I lived close enough to walk and I really wanted some exercise that day so I decided to walk.

I waited until everyone had cleared the halls before even leaving the school and not even five minutes after I had started on my way out Brittany called my cell.

"Where are you?! I've called your house like five times already!" Brittany practically shouted into my ear.

"I'm walking home." I said, sighing as I realized that the thinking I wanted to get done on this walk home was no longer going to happen.

"Ugh! Well apparently there's some new girl Philip's interested in now!" Brittany wailed as though her life was ending, in response I rolled my eyes glad she wasn't around.

"Why do you think that?" I asked, not really listening as I sat down in one of the fields around the school.

"He was walking around with her today, showing her around!" she stated, her voice reaching panic mode.

"Maybe she's just new." I stated, plucking up flowers and beginning to build a flower crown out of them.

"Well she is, but she can find someone else to show her around. Philip is mine." She stated, anger and jealousy overtaking her voice now. That was another thing, Brittany was beyond controlling. She was even like that with me; she flipped out when I had new friends and always hated them.

"Britt, controlling his every action isn't going to do anything. Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow." I replied, placing the flower crown on my head and laying back in the grass.

"You are absolutely no help." Brittany said, clicking off almost immediately.

I sighed and continued staring at the sky, finding comfort there. Just when I was about to doze off, a football came soaring at me landing just beside me. I sat up almost immediately, to see a tall, dark haired boy running towards me.

"That's a good look for you." A deep voice said as the boy came closer and stopped running. I still couldn't see his face because the sun was in my eyes. Finally the boy was right next to me, and I could see his face. It was Nathan. Of course.

I blushed at his previous comment, it was the first thing he'd ever said to me. He picked up the football, before looking over at me. He grinned at my blush, making me even redder. He started to walk away, but when he got a few steps away he turned back.

"Are you going to the game tonight?" He asked, looking back at me. I nodded, and he stated "see you then".

I picked up my bag as soon as he was gone and practically ran home. This had been a strange day.
