Narcissa paced back and forth in her bedroom. She had to think of something. But what could she do? Death Eaters were out looking for her baby. There was no way she could save him. Not without getting caught and revealing herself. Not now at least. Not while she was still stuck in the Manor.
Lucius entered the bedroom. It was the only safe place they had in the entire manor. He knew his wife was acting strange. He liked to think knew his wife better than anybody. Most of the time he was right. But sometimes he was wrong.
And with tensions rising in the Manor it was only natural that he was tired of the suspicious feeling that his wife was keeping secrets from him. The cold emotionless way she stood beside as The Dark Lord revealed the news about their son, only engrained the feeling further.
He closed the door behind him. No one needed to hear this. Narcissa turned around, sensing him behind her. She stopped pacing.
"What have you been hiding from me?" He asked.
She glared at him. "You're seriously on this again?"
She did not have time for this. She had more important things to worry about. Like how to find her son before everyone else did. They would torture him. Or kill him. The last thing she needed was to argue with her husband.
Lucius studied her. She was calm. Calmer than he had ever seen her. He knew that meant she was freaking out on the inside. But what was there to freak out about? There was son was alive. Their son was alive! Of course! It was all starting to make sense now.
"How long have you known?" he asked.
Narcissa sighed. "The whole time."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I couldn't."
"You knew he was with Potter?"
She folded her arms across her chest. "Yes, Lucius! Alright! I knew!" she took a deep breath to calm herself. "I knew he was with Potter. I knew he was safe. I knew he was alive." She looked to the side in annoyance. "I thought he was safe." She turned to face the window that looked out over their vast garden. "What is he doing?" She ran her hands down her face. "He was safe." A hard looked settled across her face. She had made up her mind. "I'm going to find him."
"What? They'll kill you if you leave." Lucius was overwhelmed with distress.
"So, we just wait here until they kill him?" she snapped, whipping her outdoor cloak around her shoulders. "Yeah, I don't think so."
"I'm going with you," he said.
She had no objections. Draco was their son. And her sister was going to kill him. So, they had to get to him first. There was no point in arguing about it.
The two gathered as much things as they needed. Food. Clothes. Narcissa's wand. They entered the parlor that was being used as Voldemort's main room. Nagini lay on the floor beside the large chair. The sword of Gryffindor was leaning against the wall. Bellatrix had brought it back from Gringotts.
Narcissa grabbed the sword. She raised it over her head. Just as the snake made eye contact with her, she brought the sword down on its neck. She yanked the sword until the head was cleanly severed from the body.
"Let's go." She stabbed the sword into the snake's body. Just for good measure.
Lucius said nothing. When she wanted to be, his wife could be terrifying. The two left the manor. They disappeared into the forest. No one would be able to find them. She would make sure of it. She scribbled a message onto a piece of parchment, folded into a bird, and charmed it away. It flew through the sky. She watched it until it disappeared. It would get to its destination. She was certain of it.
