Harry's POV

It had been a week or so since we found out about the new program, and most of our questions and concerns had been answered by either the notice or McGonagall. But despite this you could tell many students were still nervous, Ron especially as he didn't hav ancy experience with muggles, just their inventions curtesy of his Dad.

Hermione, Ron, and I began to walk towards our last lesson of today, History of Magic. It was bound to be boring as usual, but that wasn't a good enough excuse to just not go. We made our way into the classroom, Ron and I sat up at the back while Hermione sat further towards the front. We continued to chatter away about how much potions homework we were given when Professor Binns walked...no sorry floated into the classroom.

"Good afternoon students, today we will be learning about the Mimickers, their role during the First Wizarding War, and the story of the lost Mimicker," said Professor Binns

He stopped behind his desk and flipped open a book,

"Settle down class," said Professor Binns

The class slowly stopped chattering away and became silent

"Mimickers are quite extraordinary people with even more extraordinary power. Now can anyone tell me who or what the mimickers were?"

Hermione stuck her hand up.

"Yes, Hermione?"

"Um I haven't read much about them but I believe they can mimic the powers and skills of those they touch"

"Correct Hermione,10 points to Gryffindor!"

"Now please turn to page 145 of your copy of A History of Magic and begin reading the page about the mimickers"

I opened my book and began to read,

There is a power only held by the strongest of minds, kindest of hearts, and bravest of souls, a power that even the most horrendous of people cower when faced with this power. This is a power rarer than any kind but when one is gifted with it, they could destroy the world in an instant. This power is hereditary and can only be passed between a mother and daughter. All Mimickers are born with a small lyrebird feather brand located somewhere on their body, the lyerbirds is what you would call the mimickers 'spirit animal'  as iti a bird that is able to mimic sounds.

The power of mimicry has only been recorded among 60 women,8 of whom these born in the last 100 years. Mimicry is the power to mimic the skills and powers of those you touch, this power can then be stored and used at any time. With the power of mimicry, mimickers have been gifted with many powers such as Metamorphmagus, Legilimency, and even the deathly screams of a banshee

During the first Wizarding War, 7 of these women, young and old banded together to help put a stop to Lord Voldemort and his death-eater servants. They worked closely with the Order of Phoenix and were able to pull apart the death eaters from the inside and on the battlefield, making them wizarding wartime heroes. Despite their bravery and courage, the mimickers were wiped out during the final battle.

The only recorded mimicker left after the first Wizarding War was a small infant who was the daughter of Marian Hargrove one of the 8 mimickers killed during the war. This baby was taken into hiding along with her muggle father, and after the reports of her mother being killed in combat were announced, the baby and her father took off and were never spotted again.

Today this baby is known as the lost mimicker

I finished reading around the same time as most people in the class.

"Are there any questions, regarding the mimickers?"Professor Binns asked

Dean's hand shot up,

"Sir, why hasn't the lost Mimicker been found?"Dean asked

"Now this is an interesting question, despite the magical resources we have she still hasn't been found, and the ministry still spends a great deal of its time searching for her. It is believed that she doesn't know about her abilities which is why she hasn't tried to make any contact with the Wizarding World"

Hermione stuck her hand up,

"Sir so if the Mimicker were to touch Neville for example would she suddenly be good at Herbology?"Hermione asked

Neville blushed a little,

"No, not exactly Hermoine, the mimicker cannot Mimicker knowledge but rather skills and powers. Now I know that sounds confusing but think of it this way, they can only mimic physical things. For example, let's say you were strong, and fast, maybe you are good at cooking or a really good chaser in quidditch the Mimicker would be able to mimic these skills. They cannot mimic knowledge, smarts, humor, and things like that. Does that make sense?"

Everyone kind of just nodded, it was a bit of a confusing example but I kind of got the gist of it.

Parvati's hand then went up,

"Professor if I'm not mistaken this girl would be the same age as us wouldn't she?"

"Yes Parvati that is correct, she would approximately be 14-15.This girl could be hiding in plain sight, maybe if you are lucky you might find her while on your muggle trip!"Professor Binns jokingly said

-

The rest of the class was spent talking and beginning our homework about the Mimicker,

"Do you think we could find the lost mimicker when we go on the trip?"Seamus asked

"No, Professor Binns was just joking when he said that, if the Ministry has spent thirteen years trying to find her I doubt a bunch of young kids would find her in a week" Hermione replied

"But there's still a chance!"Ron joked

The bell then rang to signal the end of class,

"Okay, students I will need that one roll of parchment about the role of the Mimickers during the First Wizarding War by our next lesson on Tuesday. Class dismissed"

Everyone began to walk out of the class, that sure had been the most interesting History of Magic class in a while.
