Coming from a family of stars and constellations, Regulus Black never got the opportunity to shine for himself. He had been raised around people that dazzled much more brightly than him - even his troublesome brother was the brightest star in the sky. So much so that the boy often wondered if, in fact, he was a star at all. Perhaps he was being outshone because he wasn't a star or a constellation after all.
That was soon to change, though, and all because of one brilliant muggle born witch.
Nerezza Stark had always thought of herself as a black hole. Nothing could get close to her without being lost, hurt, or destroyed. Her name quite literally meant darkness, and the girl had always thought she was better off by herself.
But at the start of their fifth year at Hogwarts, both of the teenagers had their whole understandings utterly uprooted and changed forever.
Nerezza came to realise that there was one ray of light, one star that could shine in the darkness she dwelled in. And Regulus, well he got the opportunity to shine where there wasn't even a flicker of another light. He got the opportunity to learn that after all that time, he'd been one of the brightest stars in the sky after all.
It would be one hell of a journey to get there though.
