I look at Mason, his arm drops from my shoulder, falling on his side.

"Mason, you're so grown up, my son." Lola says her eyes watering.

I'm hesitant to see Mason reaction, his whole body is tensed, and his glaring at his mom with so much hate.

"Your son?" He laughs, a humorless and cold one. "Tell me, Lola, was I your son six years ago?" His voice is so cold that scares.

"Son I-"

"Stop fucking calling me son!" He shouts at her making me flinch. He looks at me briefly his gaze softening, but going back to hard when he looks at his mom. "I'm nothing to you, and you're nothing to me." He growls, his fists clenching and unclenching.

"Mason, please. You know how much it hurted leave you? Losing my only daughter?" She exclaims tears running down her cheeks.

I don't know what to think. All I know is that she left after Katherine died. She must felt so much pain, but leave Mason and Dominic like that it's something awful.

"Oh please tell me. Because I wasn't even the one who saw her getting shot in her stomach, bleeding to death, taking her last breaths in my arms!" With each word his voice raises. I feel my chest thighten.

I took the double of my beatings and rape for her, and she still suffered just to die. I wish I could go instead of her.

"I love you! You re my son! I-

"I told you to stop calling me that! It's Matteo for you." He's yelling now.

Fuck, I don't know what to do. I'm afraid that if I touch him he will snap at me.

"Please. Just give me one chance, it's all I'm asking." Lola is sobbing by now and it hurts seeing her pleading the forgiveness of her son. But you can't forget something like that.

"I will! And then what, Lola? Hm? I catch you fucking a random guy, again on dad's bed, when he's grieving his daughters death? And then leave without a fucking goodbye or word! Like a coward!" He's yelling so loud that people across the street start to walk faster.

I would too.

"You have to understand that I had lost my daughter! "

"And I saw my only sister dying on my own arms! Her last words were to say she loved me while I begged her not to leave me! She was my every thing! Stop thinking about you! You took the first cheap fuck you could get, when dad loved you more than anything!"

He yelled that to the top of his longs, closing his eyes breathing deeply. I could see a vain on his neck. He's looking like he could kill someone.

Lola is sobbing, and hesitantly I slip my hand on Mason's clenched fist. He glares at me and I take my hand back immediately. He grabs it, intertwining our fingers, giving a quick kiss on the top of my head.

The tension could be cutted with a fucking hamer.

"With this said Lola, don't ever, and I mean it when I say I won't have mercy on you, don't ever show up at my home. You could be dying for all I care, I was too, but here I am. Go back to being a selfish, coward, selfless wh-"

"Mas." I squeeze his hand. He would call her whore, none woman should hear that.

He looks at me and slightly nods once understanding the warning I'm giving him with my eyes.

"It's ok, I'm glad he found someone who makes him happy." She smiles sadly at me, and when I open my mouth, Mason beats me to it.

"I'm glad too, but it's not of your business anyways. Now get the fuck out off my sight, Lola."

My heart flutters a bit at his first sentence, but not too much. It couldn't even if I had to.

She sighs but nods. "I'm sorry for everything, I will always love you."

Mason keeps his gaze ahead, fuming, not giving a last glance at his mom. I give her a sad smile when she passes for me.

"Fuck!" Mason yells punching the wall repeatedly.

"Mason stop!" I shout grabbing his arm, putting myself in front of him. The wall is already with his blood. He stops breathing heavily looking at my concerned eyes. "Stop." I whisper grabbing his fist. With one glance I could see it was soaked in blood and cuts.

He leans his forehead on mine, his breath still raged, and slowly my hands rub his back from the inside of his t-shirt.

"She's gone. It's ok." I softly say, looking at his closed eyes. He nods wrapping his arms around me, his face on the crock of my neck.

When he calms down he steps away from me. "Let's go to the mansion, ok?" I nod, following behind him.

---------

Mason has been on a lounge on the pool seated since we came back. It's 10pm he said he didn't want dinner, so I had it alone.

It saddens me because the day was going so smooth, and it's all ruined. And we're leaving tomorrow.

I'm leaning on the rails of the patio looking at him and considering my possibilities.

I head to him quietly and seat next to him.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"No." I'm taken back by the coldness on his voice.

Well, what did you expect? Flowers?

"Can I do anything t-"

"No Scarlett, you can't."

"I was just trying to help. Sorry."

"I don't need your help. I've been alone since my fifteen why would I need your help? Just leave Scarlett!" he snaps at me and my brows raise.

Fine then.

I leave, not resting him a last glance.

Let him solve his shit alone, he may not need anyone but he could let people show him that it's better when you have someone there. It makes things easier.

I enter my bedroom, not even thinking of waiting for him in bed. He could sleep outside for all I care. I understand he's mad but there was no need to that cold tone.

Two hours later I still can't sleep. I hear the door of my room open and close my eyes instantly. I don't want to talk to him.

I feel the bed move. If he lays here I'll punch him.

"I know you're awake kitten. I didn't meant to talk to you like that." I only nod looking at the wall, my back facing him.

"Goodnight kitten." He kisses the side of my head, and leaves.

I sigh, punching my pillow.

Why the fuck do I have to care so much about every little thing of him?
