Are they here for me?

They dance in the puddles

Kindly gifted by spring

"Ive waited too long for this!" i cry

The birds eyes shine with happiness

I almost cry

But as i grow closer,

A cat pounces upon the flock

The birds desperately try to escape.

Crying, chirping, all in desperation

But all i can do is watch.

And as the cat swiftly kills the last one.

He looks to me, an evil gleam in his eye

"You said, 'No'?" he asked. I nodded.

"No. Never," he responded.
