Song of The Wandering Jew

24 2 4

You don’t see me

You don’t even know I’m here

I am the sun’s shadow

That moves on the edge of town

Marking out your boundaries

Building your foundations

You don’t see me

Even though I am

Everything to you

I never stay too long

In one place

I keep moving

Moving is living

And all places

Are but one

I am the guardian

Against the Darkness

I bring you Light

To keep you from stumbling

I build you a fire

To keep your bones

Alive

I nourish you

In secret

My wandering

Is a longing

I long for justice

I long for peace

I long for joy

I long for righteousness

I long for home

I long for birth and re-birth

I long for all that is the glory of G-d

Every step I take

Is a longing

My wandering

Is a refusal

I refuse hate

I refuse greed

I refuse envy

I refuse covetousness

I refuse pomposity

I refuse war

I refuse death

Every step I take

Is a refusal

Know that

As quickly as I build

I can destroy

That which is not worthy

That which has been infested

By the invasive Darkness

The Hand of G-d

Is upon me

Holding me upright

That I should not

Falter

And as quickly as I build

I can destroy
