How could a simple pat on the back make Tiffany's heartbeat so quickly? It was probably because of the person who patted her back-- Max. Her friend she had made last year, they had sat next to each other during their Freshmen introduction, talking and exchanging glances during the whole thing, and exchanging numbers at the end. A year ago she never would've thought she'd have feelings for him, or even be friends with a popular kid at all.

She's had a crush on him for about three months at this point, and she was determined to tell him how she felt by the end of the month, she just had to work up the courage first, and make sure everything was perfect. Before she confessed, she also wanted to make sure he even felt the same way as she did-- even slightly.

She had everything planned out too, first, she would take him to the place they first met, then she would-- "What are you still doing here, lame-o? School ended 15 minutes ago! Stop staring off into space like a weirdo, weirdo!" Just great. The best way to end a school day, having Isabella and her goons pick on her.

"Leave me alone, Isabella. I was just thinking, something you probably don't know how to do." As soon as the words came out of her mouth, Isabella regretted saying them, Isabella always had a comeback and would use whatever you said to her advantage.

One of Isabella's goons, Ellie, starts to move forward before Paiton, her other goon, holds her back. Isabella laughs a little, "I think a lot actually, my favorite thing to think about is how great my life would be if you were gone."

Paiton snickers and Tiffany clenches her fists, "How about you just keep your mouth shut." Tiffany says angrily.

Looking at Isabella, Tiffany sees what looked like hurt flash across her face, she brushed it off as a mistake when Isabella laughs, "Is that the best you could come up with? What a weak response! Come on girls, let's go." The two girls nod and follow Isabella as she walks, forming a triangle, as she passes, Isabella bumps shoulders with Tiffany.

Tiffany rubs her shoulder, trying to make the pain go away, though the pain in her shoulder went away, the pain she felt deep down stayed. Just three years ago-- when Tiffany and Isabella were still thirteen, they had been best friends, childhood friends for eight whole years. But one day, Isabella stopped talking to her and started to ignore her. It hurt her deep inside, but she tried to not let it show.

Ignoring everything else, Tiffany packed up her things and started to head home.
