As I approached the park lot of my school I took a good look around me to find Stacey. After I realized I couldn't find her, I walked straight to the main building and examined the big letters that spelled "Lincoln Highschool" in blue. They were so pretty, especially at home games, they would light up like a casino in Las Vegas. As I approached the door I tried to remember what I needed to do today before class. I searched deep in my mind what it was that I had to do, then I remembered. I had to turn in a late assignment to one of my teachers private boxes in the office. I rushed over to the office, and pulled out my folder from my bag. Now I , Mia Lauren , am an extremely unorganized person. So you can imagine that when I opened my folder, all my papers were jumbled in a bunch. I turned through every page looking for the assignment, and as I frantically looked, I heard something fall from behind me. I turned around and, I saw this girl looking down at the books she just dropped. I put my bag and folder down at the counter and rushed to help her. She looked at me and knelt down as I reached for her books on the floor. She said, "You don't have to do that, I'm not defenseless." Her voice sounded like gold. Not to light but not dark. A perfect mixture of hymes and rhythms. I got up with her books in my hands and handed them to her saying, "Thanks you would have sufficed." She glared at me , "Thank you for picking up my books. In the future however, kindly refrain from implying that I am a helpless girl." I hadn't even noticed she had an accent until she said that. She was British. I never heard a British accent in real life, sure only on television but never real life. It sounded so silky though. As if she was a princess. But wait I forgot, she's not a "helpless girl". I laughed, "Okay sorry if I offended you. I thought I was doing something nice?" She rolled her eyes, and I noticed a neon yellow paper in her hands, a transcript. She was a new student. I looked back up at her, and I realized I hadn't even looked at her face. I mean I did, but not directly. She had these hazel brown eyes that were set apart and angled just right, so it complemented her face. And her little slim nose added to her fascinating face structure. Her hair was dark brown, almost black, and went all the way down to her tiny waist. And the dress she was wearing pulled it all together. A white ruffled thing that ended above her knees, which she matched with beige flats, she looked like a model. I snapped back into reality and I asked, "So I can assume your new here?" She looked down at her transcript and said, "Yeah. I am actually." The mild temper she had in her face had faded away. I could see she was calm now. I smiled at her, "Well I'd love to assist you in finding your first class. Unless of course you'd still think I'd be calling you a 'helpless girl'?" She laughed, and now that she was smiling with her teeth, I could see the radiance in her face. "Oh that.. I'm really sorry. It's just, I um.. had a long trip and I'm real tired. Forgive me." I grinned, "Hey it's cool. So would you like me to help?" She chuckled, "Why yes, thank you umm.." I grabbed my things , "Mia." I said. "Thank you Mia." She said my name so elegantly, almost like she gave it a new meaning. She looked at me and said,
"I'm Daphne. Daphne White." She extended her hand and I reached for it. We shook and I said, "That's beautiful. It beats Mia Lauren." She laughed, "Why thank you Mia. And for the record, Mia Lauren is much more beautiful." I smiled and we stood there in silence for awhile. Now that she wasn't hassling me about the book thing, she looked so pretty. Like the type of pretty you want to be close friends with. The type of pretty you know all the girls will jealous of as soon as they see her. The funny thing is, she carried herself in a way that makes her look like she doesn't even know she's pretty. Which makes her even more beautiful. I broke free of the silence and said, "Well shall we?" She gave a faint smile and said , "We shall." And we went and just as I thought, everyone who laid eyes on her either stared in awe or whispered like they thought we couldn't notice. But I mean who wouldn't? She was gorgeous.
