SEMAKA POV
I'm woken up by Nonka's feather light touch drawing patterns on my bare back.
"Sawubona"(hi).I said as turning to face her.
"yebo" she says and a cute yarn escapes her mouth.
"Did you sleep well?" -merf
"yeah" she's blushing and it's a cute sight. My phone rings and I check the Id to find that it's Vusi. Why is he calling so early? I end the call and switch off the phone.
"Aren't lawyers not supposed have tattoos?" I turn to her with an arched eyebrow. This is why I never let anyone spend the night. I don't do small talks after sex that's for couples- a loud banging on the door cuts through my thoughts.
"Yey wena Semaka! OPEN THIS DOOR BEFORE I BREAK IT DOWN" There's no peace in this house. Its 6:30am and my mom is already breathing fire.
“Don’t test me ngwanyana ke wena” I briefly look at a Nonka and her eyes are all out
"relax" I mouth the word before putting on my gown and walked to the door and unlocked it then walked back to sit on my bed. The door is flung open a moment later
“kukwami la girly (this is my house)” my mom says with both her hands on her waist. She then turned to Nonka who is now sitting up straight with the bed sheets tucked under her armpits. Her eyes linger on her for a while before sweeping up the room and land on our scattered clothes on the floor. She frowns and spit the words
“I want the both of you downstairs in thirty minutes, reya kerekeng.(we are going to church). Rea kwana? (Am I clear?)” I nod and she left the room banging the door in the process.
"go and shower, I'll find fresh clothes for you to wear" she rushed to the bathroom, taking the whole bedding with her. Nqobile barges into the room and I glared at her
"What did you do to your mom? She looked traumati-" she stops talking when her eyes land on the scattered clothes on the floor and a stupid grin is pasted on her face."Engathi beziwa lana izolo" (looks like last night was lit in here). Can I have a peaceful sunday morning for once in this house.
"Mi your mom said I should give you these"she hands me a new tooth brush and deodorant.
"I want all the details later today" she said wiggling her eyebrows and I point to the door indicating that she should leave. She bursts into a powerful laughter and headed to the door
"keep the door open!" mciim!.
****"Good morning fam" I greet as we enter the dining room and I get 'mornings' in return. I pull out a chair for Nonka and she sits as my mom walks in with a jug of juice.i take a sit next to my guest and grab a plate to dish up for her trying my best to ignore the drilling glare my mom is giving me.
"Cinderella, aren't you gonna introduce us to your friend?" Moagi asks with a little smirk. I pour myself a glass of juice and sip on it while glaring on him and he cocks his head to the side waiting for the introduction. I release a heavy breath
"This is Nonkanyezi, Nonka these are my brothers and mom" I say the words looking at my mom who is awfully quiet.
"I'm running late, It was nice to meet you Nonkanyezi." Says mom with a forced smile and pushed her chair out and left the table.
"So Nonka, how did you meet my rude sister?"-Moagi.
"I'm not rude, she's one of my weekend students" I answer for her and she gives me a disapproving look. Moagi's phone rings before he could reply and he excuses himself to answer the phone.
"we are having a party at the carwash this weekend, you should come" Nqobile says to Nonka
"oh I'd love to" she says with a smile.
"She can't go to the party, she has classes this weekend" I don't want her in my face after today.
"no I don't "-Nonka. We have a little stare contest and she gives up with a sigh as Moagi walks in.
"Semaka, there's a problem at the carwash, Vusi is outside waiting for you" I turn to Nonka
"the driver will take you home when you are done" a disappointed look settles on her face. I run upstairs to get my car keys, phone and some cash and rush back down.
"Bring my car with you when you get back" I say handing the car keys to Kgoši my other brother who is a doctor and is supposed to go check on Gundi. "Here" I give the cash to Nonka who stares at the money in my hand and i shove it into her hand before leaving.
***
We get to the carwash and there's four police vans parked outside. I jump out of the car as soon as Vusi pulls the hand brake. The manager rushed to me when she saw me approaching
"what's going on?" She looked around before whispering
"the police are raiding the place. Apparently they were tipped off that we store drugs here..." that's odd
"they arrested two of our guys last night at the tavern in Meadowlands. They must have been the ones who snitched." I looked to Vusi who is now on my side playing with the car keys with a deep frown.
"Did you manage to move all the product before they came?"she nods twice before going back inside as one of the police officers calls for her. I turn to Vusi
"Mbulazi, call our contact inside and tell him to get rid of the snitches" he nods and take out his phone to make the call as my phone rings "Baba"(dad).
"Buyani la e butcher, there's meat for you"(come to the butchery)I can't stop the smile on my face
"silapho"(we are on our way). I end the call when Vusi turns to me
"Sekunjalo Cinderella"(it's done).
"Kune bhari ekumele siy'hlinze e butcher"(there's a fool we are supposed to skin at the butchery).he grins and I know we are about to have an eventful sunday.[edited]
