Chapter 3

"Friend? Gen who's your friend?" I ask and I hear her giggle. "Lucas...he's right over there." She points and I look in that direction. The wind blew and the leaves rustle but there was no body there.

Its probably just an imaginary friends. "Come on gen let's go." She waves to the air as if something is there and then she walks over to me.

I lead her out the school yard and we're on the dirt road walking home. "He's sad now." I hear her whisper. "Who's sad gen?" "Lucas...he's sad I left him." She says her head down.

"He's just an imaginary friend Genny." "But he isn't imaginary.... He's real." I look at her for a second stopping as I do. "Genny he isn't real." I tell her now getting annoyed with her and this friend thing.

"He said you would say that."

"Genny tell Lucas to leave you alone."

I grab her hand and start walking again.

"That's the thing Noah, he won't leave me alone." She says.

I know my little sister and she would never lie like this. There has to be something going on here, who ever this Lucas person is she isn't kidding about him. But, why couldn't I see Lucas. She said he was standing in front of me but I saw nothing. She just pointed at the air. I have a bad feeling about...Lucas.

"Genny, you are always causing problems. Don't talk to Lucas anymore or mom will be sure to punish you." I say and I mean it.

She stays silent. Her facial expression is blank. Her eyes look wide and they shimmer. "Genny?" I say trying to get her out of this trance she seems to be in.

"He doesn't like you Noah...he doesn't even like your name."

He whispers keeping her eyes straight ahead. Her hand feels cold in mine.

"Genny?"

She doesn't answer.

"Genny? Genny!"

Her expression never changes.

She's long gone. I think to myself and I say what my mother always says when something's wrong, like, seriously wrong.

"Ou nor de Je-zee."

I watch her and she flutters her eyes.

"He says not to say that." She snaps at me her eyes darker.

"Stop it Genny, or I'll tell mom."

"Lucas is mad." She says.

"That's it I'm telling mama."

I roughly grab her pulling her harder and waking faster towards the house.

Before I open the door I turn to Gen and I squat down to her level.

"Listen, if you stop talking to Lu or whatever his name is I won't tell mom. Is that a deal."

Suddenly her eyes turn they're normal color and my old baby sister is back. " Oh please Noah don't tell." She cries as he grabs on to me. "Find Genny but don't talk to him or whatever Lucas is, you'll start trouble.
