*********

'I'll win' she whispered with tears streaming down her eyes

*********

'I want my daughter back, when she is done with her junior WAEC, I want her with me' the voice screamed

'You'll get her back, don't worry, just don't go reporting to the Headquarters like the last time, it was embarrassing' she replied back

'It wouldn't have been that way if you just gave me back my daughter' the voice replied

"Zainab!" She called out to me. I quickly tiptoed back to our room so she wouldn't find out that I was eavesdropping on her conversation over the phone.

"Zainab!" she called out again but this time a little louder

"Maaa!" I responded, so it would seem like I was coming from our room.

"You wanted me to call you thrice right" she frowned slightly when I came in

"No ma" My voice came out as a whisper

She narrowed her eyes at me and pursed her lips. I was a nervous wreck while waiting for her to tell me what it was she summoned me for.

"Your mum wants you to come live with her" she adjusted her sitting position while drumming a finger on her thigh

Beads of sweat ran down my spine and reality washed over me. I was leaving Lagos after almost Eight years of my life!
